Thanked: 0long lasting scented shave soaps?
can anyone point me at a shave soap (or cream i suppose though im guessing my brush maybe better suited towards soaps, dont know if it matters) that has a scent that lasts on the skin, such that i wouldnt have to use an aftershave/cologne? i picked up the crabtree and evelyn nomad soap, (and their best badger brush) and i really like the nomad scent. but its not that strong on my skin, nicely arromatic while im lathering up, but when i put a moisturizer on after, it seems to be diminished. its an unscented, oil free face cream, so i cant figure out why the scent goes away so quick.
also, which is stronger in scent, mama bears or colleens soaps?

I have enough trouble finding an a/s or cologne scent that lasts on me. I've never tried a soap that has lasting scent. YMMV though. Those mentioned are excellent products.

I used QED soap for the first time tonight. I used Wild Rose, and now, two hours later, I can still smell myself. I don't know if Charles' other soaps behave this way, but this one was so good, i think i will be trying another one soon.

Hi Vivek,
I'd say QED's version of sandalwood has a lot of intensity and lasts a good while after the shave's over. Ray mentioned the 'wild rose' that Charles makes, which I also have, and the sandalwood lasts almost as long. Plus, it's a very clean, single note scent, with no other fragrances added to it. It's a very dry, yet compelling scent to me.
I found a few of Colleen's offerings such as Desert Ironwood and Cavendish black to also have more fragrance and lasting power than most. As far as being stronger than Mamabears go, I'd think that would depend on the selection. Mamabear is known to have some strongly scented versions of her own making.
Hope that helps,

Thanked: 0haha well cant say im much for sandlewood, rose doesnt seem to bad, if im going for flowers itd be jasmine or honeysuckle (though im not even sure where i saw a honeysuckle soap) im beginning to thing that maybe, i just cant smell it because obv. after a while you will become desensitized to it, so you may not notice it, but other will. ill have to see if its noticeable to anyone else mid day when i shave tomorrow... and try not to be awkward about it

Well, after one shave I can only comment on one cream, but it's a good comment! I got a sample of the Oak Moss (or is it Moss Oak?) shave cream from The Gentleman's Quarter, and I absolutely loved the scent. On top of that, my entire bathroom smelled wonderful, even 10 hours later when I went in this morning to get ready for work.
I was exceedingly pleased with it, and will probably be purchasing more of this from Colleen.

Tabac is a tallow based shave soap that has a really strong scent.
Strong enough that if you're going to wear cologne with it you better go with Tabac.
I think Charles sells the refills at QED.

Mamabear does have a honeysuckle
as for better or longer lasting scents, I'd say Mamabear and Colleen are neck and neck there.
They both have exceptional soaps with great strong and distinctive scents. and the scent lasts for some time, you just don't notice it.
as for exceptionally long lasting ones that I've tried, I would mention
MamaBear's Attar of Roses... (It's a FO soap that smells like real fresh roses) Hydrogen and Marauder's citrus
Collen's Cavandish black (tobacco scented FO) or my current favorite Oak Moss
and if I had to pick just one scent to stick with for the long run it would be Colleens' Oak moss
I'm just greatful I don't have to chose just one.
