Default Classic Shaving Shaving Mug Soap

For anybody who has used the CS soaps, how long did they last?

I had a citrus spice that I liked a lot, but it only lasted for about 20 to 30 shaves. The lather wasn't overly thick either, but I'm blaming method and water quality for that.

How long do other soaps last?
Are there any good handmade ones on eBay?
What are the odds of finding quality ones in a local department store?

I use them. I have the Lavender, and the Jasmine. So far they are GREAT! Great lather, great smell. And they price is good.

So I would say they are worth a try at least.

They sound promising. I'm probably going to try the desert ironwood.

    Thanks.

I ordered some of Colleen's (The Gentlemen's Quarter) Cavendish Black last year. It quickly became my favorite scent. I just ordered some more. I have quite a bit of Shaving Soap gathering dust in the cabinet. At least two years worth. It won't get used until Colleen goes out of business.
Cavendish Black lasts pretty well and the lather is just fine. I am 'Guesstimating' I have over seventy five shaves out of the first cake and it isn't gone yet. I buy her three inch discs.
The Gentlemen's Quarter website is easily navigated and Colleen herself, is a classy Lady! I wish her well!

I was really interested in the Cavendish and the Ironwood.

The website says the cavendish is not reccomended for people with sensitive skin. What is your experience with this? Is it just a heavy formula that might be cause irritation?

I think it's fragrance oils or some essential oils (cloves, lavender) that can be irritating to some people. If you know what your skin can be allergic to, you can avoid it. I hear many people with sensitive skin are quite happy with Tabac.
Colleen's soaps are, of course great, and I can't recommend them highly enough. I read somewhere she offers a sampler with even smaller sizes than the 1oz pucks. The 1oz size certainly lasts more than 20-30 times either. Again it depends on your water, but my water isn't particularily soft and the soaps seem to go down quite slowly.

Cavendish is an FO, and quite often people with sensitive skin have reactions to FO soaps. I had a bad reaction to an FO soap but it was not Colleen's.

I recommend the desert ironwood, that scent is like one of the best she has, next to lavender that is.

Once you try Colleen's soaps, you will realize there is no need for any other soaps, especially not melt & pour ones with low quality FO's that are out there these days, as with the ridiculously over priced soaps.

    JMO, YMMV

If I pick up Gentlemen's Quarter soaps what are the odds I could place it in a metal dish and put that in boiling water to make it fit the bowl?

that's the way to do it...
Classic's soaps are mediocre, they aren't bad, but for the price, I'd always send people to Colleen or mamabear.
I recently got a small puck of the cavandish, and had no problems... It's a Fragrance oil, so she gives fair warning... but it's awesome, and easily worth the risk. If you're not sure, but her small spuck, the last a long time, and you can get more of them to try before settling on a favorite scent. The oak moss is awesome
