Thread: Lathering w/ Proraso

So I just got some of the green proraso with some .5 micron diamond paste from CS today. I read a little on the tube and from the sounds of the instructions you lather it on the face with your hand? I was curious if those of you who use this stuff normally lather it with a brush like you would with any other cream or if you follow the directions on the tube.

It can be used as a brushless cream like anyother cream....but you will get the best results by creating lather on your face or in the bowl, actually is the brsh what helps condition your skin in a major way by lightly scrubbing old cells from your face and lifting your hairs....
never the less its a great and very consistent product, so it will serve you well either way.

I use a brush too, but it doesn't lather as well as say Taylor's creams. I use it a little thicker than most creams. More cream to water on the ratio.

it works best when lathered with a brush. previous poster is correct, you will need a surprising amount of water added to make it lather well.

A surprisingly small amount of water, in my short experience. All I've used so far is proraso, and I only add a small amount to my wet mug to get a thicker lather that won't dry out quickly. Also, I apply it with the brush, rub it in by hand, then apply more with the brush a minute or two later. I will now use a smiley face to represent nothing other than my desire to use a smiley face. Maybe two smileys

you are correct, for whatever reason i just skipped right over that word. ugh, i need coffee

I use a boar brush, a bowl, and a little more water than some other creams I use. As a matter of fact, I used the Proraso Green Tea w/ Aloe Soap and I had mounds of white creamy goodness. I can see myself using that alot in my rotation for the summer months. A very light and citrusy scent

Proraso Green used to be my workhorse but Proraso White has taken that spot. It's too bad it doesn't come in a tube. I feel that the lather cushion is much better and while it lacks the mentholy goodness of Green, overall I prefer it.

I like putting about a dime size spot of proraso on my palm, rubbing my hands together, and smattering it on my face. Then I face lather the heck out of it. I feel like I get the most out of the cream that way, and I ususally leave enough on the brush for subsequent passes.

I got my first shave with it this morning, probably the best lathering cream I've used so far. I have some other Taylor's, TGQ, Castle Forbes and T&H that I've tried as well. This and the C/F are my favorites. I just used my brush like normal, built a lather in the scuttle then also lathered circular on the face then brushed then shave.
