    Default Anyone use Gold Dachs?

The title says it really: anyone tried Marke Gold Dachs Spezial shaving soap? I'm thinking of getting some 'cos I can get it from a site in the U.K, so no long wait. It's bloody expensive ( which means it must be good, right? ). If it's worth it ( 'bout 14 quid ), I'll get some, but I've searched the forums and haven't found any mention of Gold Dachs.

    Cheers, guys.

It is, IMHO, one of the best shaving soaps available to civilized man. Lathers like a rabid dog, light lavender scent. I believe it is more alkaline than your average soap to help soften the beard. Whatever does it, it shaves like a dream.

If you have sensitive skin - be wary! There are many lads reporting about it burning on their face - like me for example. I can use any and every soap and crem (except those with citrus EOs) but the Golddachs burns like mad...

Is GD a tallow or veggie soap? I've been wanting to try it.

I got a sample of it a while back, and I agree with the tin-foil-garbed one: it is a terrific soap. I find the scent to be almost medicinal, but not in an unpleasant way. More in a: "we're not messing around with any florals or fruits, here, we want you to smell like a MAN" kind of way.

    Good stuff.

I didn't like it at all. I was very dissapointed since so many people were raving about the soap. For me it isn't slick enough and cuts very close. I'm also not sold at all about the scent. I gave it to the wife for her legs and she loves it so at least it's not going to waste. It's a YMMV thing.

I've used it and don't care for it. I had to use 4-5 drops of Glycerin just to finish my shave. It lathers great but provides no cushion what so ever.

    Kind regards,

I'm just curious, since I'm thinking of trying this soap - for you guys who don't like GD, what soap(s) do you think are better - what are you comparing the GD qualities to? Thanks!

Ordered my puck through Amazon UK - seemed the best way to redeem a complimentary £10 voucher I have lying around!

Nonetheless, the UK postal strikes are not helping, so I have no idea when I'll get the chance to try it out.
