Can shave cream go bad?
Can shave cream go bad? I use a tub of cream from go to whoa. It usually takes me 6-9 months, and i leave the top off between shaves to prevent the cream from going soggy. I was just thinking, can germs or similar live in the soap? Should i be covering the tub to stop anything getting in, and does anybody else leave the lid off?

Thanked: 84I'm sure there are things in the cream that will evapourate if you leave the lid off.
If you look on most EU products there is a liitle outline of a tub with a lid stamped somewhere on the bottom of the jar, next to this you'll see a number with the letter M next to it. IE 12m means it's good for 12 months after opening.

I've asked the same question previously in this forum, from what I gathered previously it's about 12-24 months, but probably longer depending on whats in it and how its treated. That thread can still be viewed here

I haven't been wet shaving long enough to see a tub of cream go bad or even to use one of the tubs that I've acquired up.

Thanked: 32Shaving creams are made from oils just like shaving soaps so it is possible for them to go rancid, but probably not likely. Most commercial shaving creams have parabens or some other chemical additive to prevent bacteria from growing on them.

I've seen the my dads tub of body shop shaving cream go "bad" it turned from a yellowy colour to a brown/orange colour as well as made it a little lumpy, but it didn't effect the lather or sent just the colour.

Thanked: 735Don't eat the tuna salad at a summer picnic if it's out in the sun for more than 4 hours....
Unless you've been drinking heavily.
