Mama Bear,
Just ordered two new soaps. They are for my son (aged 14) He just started high school and he needs to be clean shaven (not that he has much facial hair.... ) I thought I would start him out right with two of your soaps so he will leave mine alone.. thanks for the great products.

Thanks Mama Bear!
So I am a poor grad student, and when I joined, Tony (Richardhead) went above and beyond the call of duty and sent me a complete kit for free when I asked to buy a razor that hadn't sold on the 'Bay. This kit included a container of Ylang Ylang.
it was my first soap, and I loved it. I have since learned (by trying some other soaps) just how easy Mama Bear's soaps lather. They are just very forgiving when it comes to amount/type of water.
I scraped together some extra cash given to me as a gift and I ordered some new soaps. I ordered Green Irish Tweed, Aged Spice, Beau Brummel, Sandalwood Vanilla, and Sapmoss. I ordered on Sunday, and immediately realized I had used an old shipping address on paypal. I e-mailed Sue, and a few hours later got a reply that she would happily change the address. Ordering Sunday evening the soap was in my mailbox on Wednesday afternoon! I had ordered small sample packs from a few other places and these soaps were in my hand a full day before any of the other orders even left the stores!
I opened up the box, and to my surprise there was a package of Mandarin Ice soap and a sample Mandarin Ice aftershave. I don't dare to even call the soap a "sample" as it was at least 3/4 of the way full! I was bowled over! I have many months of enjoyable shaving ahead of me. Of course I had to open everything up for a smell, and it all smelled wonderful. Aged Spice is a wonderful, actually cleaner smelling, version of Old Spice. Sandalwood Vanilla is absolutely heavenly. Green Irish Tweed is right up my alley scent-wise. After smelling Mandarin Ice, I will certainly be trying the other citrus ice products! Beau and Sapmoss have a much more concentrated scent, but smell wonderful, and I think they will be just perfect as a longer lasting shave scent.
I had to try the Aged Spice first (the wife loves Old Spice), and it lathered and felt just as wonderful as the Ylang Ylang that I started out with. I want to shave twice a day just to get to try them all sooner!
Just a little hint, I find that Mama Bear's soaps with just a tiny spot of Speick make a wonderful and flawless super lather!
Thanks Sue for incredibly fast, friendly service, for going above and beyond with a great extra gift, and most of all for making such wonderful soaps!
If you havn't yet, take the plunge and buy a few containers of Mama Bear's product!Last edited by foundlingofdollar; 08-29-2008 at 03:50 PM.

I've tried a few, but Mandarin Ice is the one I keep going back to. I'm going to try the Lime Ice this time.
I won't use anything but Mama Bears soap now. Last time I tried someone else's I actually cut myself because I was so used to Mama Bear's better lather.

Just an update
Last night it was the Mandarin Ice. What a marvelous shave! The smell was a little on the sweet side (but I normally don't do sweet scents), but delicious. This soap has to have THE PERFECT quantity of menthol! The sensation was not distracting, and indeed almost non present during the shave. Once I rinsed my face though, I was covered in a wonderful, very gentle cooling sensation. It was 11:00PM, I had been up since 5 AM, but I was all ready to go for another day. I definitely have to try this in the morning, it can really wake you up and make you feel ready to go. I followed it up with the Mandarin Ice summer aftershave. This was a much more intense menthol sensation. It really would have felt nice before going out on a hot day. The aftershave itself has the milky color of a balm, but texture-wise is about halfway between a splash and a balm. it definitely didn't feel like lotion and was not heavy on my face.
Once again, more excellent work Sue!

I just ran out of my Dr. Harris soap and bought two Mama Bear's for the first time. I was not disappointed. Mama Bear's was much better than the more expensive Dr. Harris. Thanks so much for such a great product.

I ordered Mama Bear's Joe's Trade Wind and Tuscan Memories 2 days ago for a try. I have exclusively used CS glycerine soaps and wanted to try some different fragences as well as soap types. I look forward to their arrival...

You and your soaps are the best. Thanks for that but you didn't need to, I loved the scent. It was funny yesterday he needed to take the 6 whiskers off his upper lip and I see him sniffing all my soaps and he selected Green Irish Tweed. It is so funny to see him lather up with my fathers brush (I passed it on to him) Still haven't got him to use a str8 by himself yet. I am beginning to feel old...

Two nights ago my wife and I both shaved with the Sandalwood Vanilla. Of all the scents I've tried so far, this is definitely my favorite. The lather and shave were, of course, flawless (ok, maybe my own shaving wasn't flawless). It was a pleasure to go around with that great scent caught in my beard. Best of all, I kept sneaking into our bedroom and bathroom because both had a heavenly aroma of sandalwood and vanilla.
Last night I shaved with the Beau Brummel. Just smelling the pucks, this was probably my least favorite scent. I do not really go for very sweet smells, and the Beau smelled rather like honey to me. Shaving with it the lather was great, the scent not distracting, and I was left with the softest pre-aftershave cheeks that I've had since I started with the straights. The smell as it lingered on my cheeks and neck was light enough that the sweetness did not bother me and all the shea butter was definitely well worth it.
Tonight Green Irish Tweed!
