adding lime essential oil kills lather
Shaved last night with my venerable Double Arrow, and since it's been so dosh-garn warm lately, I thought some lime-scented lather would be most enjoyable. I whipped up a batch using VDH glycerin soap and a squirt of Kiss My Face unscented shaving cream, a reliable combination on any given day, and added 2 drops of lime essential oil and whipped it up some more.
As I painted the lather on my cheek, it pretty much collapsed, no usual full, lathery coverage. I tried scrubbing on my face to build up the lather, nada.
It sure smelled nice, but adding lime essential oil to my lather killed it.
I chalked it up to a lesson learned, decided to share my results here, and whipped up another VDH/KMF lather without lime oil. I consoled myself afterwards with some homemade lime aftershave, which isn't very durable once on me, but smells and feels great going on

Thats odd, wonder why it killed it...As for the VDH and the KMF, you dont always have to spend a fortune for good stuff, they're are still very high on my fav list. As is the Double arrow

Thanked: 12For some reason I'm suspecting the brand of essential oil used.... Might want to try switching the brand.
