    Default UberLather gone BAD!

I am still fairly new at this (5 or 6 months) and still learning, so help me figure out what I did wrong today.
    First a little history.

    • I started out using Williams with a $5 boar brush and the results were well fair.
    • I read about SuperLather and added some US spec Palmolive shave cream to the mix and things got better.
    • Then I learned about UberLather and added some glycerin and things got better still.
    • Then I picked up some of Mike R's Well Honed soap and things got great.
    • Added a Capshaw brush and things got still better.
    • Added Pirate Cove soap (not as nice as Mike's but still good.

Now comes the problem, I was running out of Palmolive and can't find it anymore so I ordered some cream from a small soap kitchen (name withheld because I don't want to smear them for my mistakes). Well I used the provided plastic snudle dipper and tried to make uberlather this morning with the Pirate Cove and some clycerin. Wow I have never seen so many suds. Try as I might I couldn't get the bubble small to non existant. I never did really get what I would call lather but boy did I have a TON of suds. Too much water? Not enough? I tried adding a bit of water but that didn't really help much and I had a time crunch (have to get off to the van pool on time). Maybe I should just use half a snudle of the cream? Any ideas what whent wrong?

    Thanks for all the help,

    Mike

Very simple solution, when you have time, drop every thing out and just make lather with the Shave Cream, and see what happens .... You have changed yer one constant in yer lather making and that is what you need to test....
Most creams work with most soaps and mix with glycerin and create a rich thick Uberlather....
    Some do not.....
If yer a one shave cream kind of guy, my single shave cream recommendation for building Uberlather, believe it or not is the Body Shop shave cream for men.... Inexpensive, almost scentless, and so far I haven't found a soap it doesn't like...... 2nd choice would be Kiss My Face Scentless for the same reasons

SixGun to the rescue! Good point I'll try out the cream by itself and see what I get. I may pick up some Body Shop cream too.

But boy did I have suds today. If I could of gotten them to firm up to lather I could have shaved two large dogs.

Time to order more cream, I think I'll give the Body Shop one a try. I used just the cream this morning, got up and around early to give myself time. I never did get what I would consider a half way acceptable lather. When I finally got it to start looking like later it would collapse faster than anything I have seen. Looks like I wasted $13.75 on this one.

+1 On the Body Shop cream. I got mine a couple of days ago and it works great.
