first tabac lather
Well I had my first go with tabac tonight. I have to say, this is my favorite shaving soap I have ever used! Now I have not used that many but the shave was great with my fridour, and the lather is nice and full of cushion and is slick to boot. I have used Mama Bears and Tryphon as well as Conk and williams, but this one takes the cake. The scent is not great. But I don't mind it and the shave I got from the soap was much nicer than the last shave with the fridour I had which was with Williams and Proraso cream.
Now I am awaiting the arrival of a mug that will actually fit the soap. I had to cram it into a little soap dish but the Burts bees mug I ordered,(like the one in Lynn's video) should do the trick!
I also need to figure out what I am going to do with a practically full 500 ml tube of proraso cream!! I guess I am headed to the Classifieds.

Thanked: 3795Yup, it's great stuff. I actually don't mind the scent at all.
Just don't combine it with anything else--that scent does not play well with others!

Proraso is a great cream, and I would be happy to take it off your hands if I didn't still have half a tube and one other full one waiting. I managed to get tubes for $1.08, but could only get one per person. Since I only had one other person with me, I had to settle for two.
To get back on topic, I'm glad to hear good things about Tabac. I've been wanting to try it, but can't find any small sizes.

Thanked: 735Tabac's secret is that it is a tallow based soap.
Art of shaving soaps are reportedly tallow based. D.R. Harris soaps as well.Valobra shave sticks are tallow based (and you can grate the stick and jam it in a mug to use as a regular soap...). So ther are other options in regards to scents if Tabac isn't doing it for you in that regard.
Tallow my friend....Tallow!

Thanked: 0Congrats. Tabac may have been the single greatest discovery I made soap/cream -wise. I haven't come across anything yet that can outperform it.

I have not tried many premium soaps--the classic Williams bargain puck is my other staple--but I love me some Tabac. Excellent lather, and personally, I like the scent. I think by the time I am slapping on a bit of Pinaud Clubman it's all working itself out, though I could be wrong. The best nose in our house belonged to our dog, and his taste was not exactly discriminating.
