Thanked: 1How long does the soap smell stay with you?
If I use some shaving soap and no aftershave how long will that smell stay? Is it just during the shave, or does some stay?
EDIT: Thinking of buying MamaBear Ocean Rain & Sandalwood vanilla

It depends on how you finish your shave session...but the short answer is not very long.
I've used MB Sandalwood & Vanilla and it's got a great scent although it's misnamed as the Vanilla completely overpowers the Sandalwood. I normally finish my shave with a cold water rinse, alum block, pat dry, and slather on a little Trumpers Sandalwood Skin Food so that MB scent is perfect as the Skin Food adds back the Sandalwood and I can smell both for several hours afterwards.
Most scented soaps I've used are pretty much gone an hour (or less) after I've shaved but the MB seems to hang in a little longer...especially the heavier fragrances like vanilla.

I agree. Soap scents don't last on your skin very long at all.

That said, I use Colleen's soaps, almost exclusively, and then finish with C&E Sandlewood aftershave balm, and my wife says that she can still smell it on me when I get home after a full day at the office.
Of course, YMMV.

Thanked: 335It's possible that one's own nose becomes de-sensitized to the fragrances that one wears so it seems that the soap smells don't linger. I suspect they remain longer than we realize and can be detected by those near and dears. When washing my face for the morning's shave, I can often get hints of yesterday's aftershave from areas where I've missed with a later-in-the day wash and rinse.

+1 with Mark. I like the scent of Colleen's soaps when I apply the lather. Smells clean and masculine. The scent doesn't stay long, but is very nice while it does...

Hiya,
I'd agree with other members who mentioned the scent being kinda fleeting for the most part. There's a few exceptions I'll mention quickly. Both are made by Charles at QED, and really stay with me for a while. The first would be his version of sandalwood. I'll catch a few wisps of that for a couple hours after shaving .....especially if I 'accidentally' huff a little up my nose.
The second soap would be his 'Wild Rose', and that stuff is intense! Now, when I use that, I plan on smelling like roses for many hours afterwards. It's gotta be the longest lasting fragrance of any soaps or creams I've tried......in a good way.
Ok, I'm done,
Martin
