    Default Colleen's Creams Problem

I am about to give up on these. I either get a great lather, or something that totally disappears from my face and brush as soon as I start to apply it. I thought it was my water hardness, but am using RO waterwith the same result. I have tried in the scuttle, face lathering and 4 different brushes and cannot get it consistent. The only thing I have not tired is colder water.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get awesome lather from Gentleman's Quarter creams? I have great luck with the soaps, but the creams are quite finicky. How do you guys that have success do it?

I really want to use these, but they will get relegated to superlather with one of my soaps if I can't figure this out.

I don't use her creams, but I can say her soaps are the best I have ever used!

Default I have noticed this as well.

I will say that using the creams and soaps in tandem for uberlather is pretty successful. Incidentally, depending on when you bought them, Colleen had made some changes to the formula and I believe that they lather much better now. Mine are the old mix and I use them for uberlather which, again, works out quite well. Contact her directly would be my advice. She is very easy to deal with and pleasant to talk to as well!

Good luck and let us know how you make out!

    Brad,

I have been using Colleen's creams for a bit now without any problems, it may be the way I use them though. With creams I soak my bush in hot water while I shower and then I put a dab of cream on the brush and make the lather on my face. I get consistant lather that is nice and thick. Try that and see if it makes any difference. I love her Cavendish Black shaving cream.

Default Notes from the Lather Lab!

Okay, so here is what I did after reading this thread.

I used the orange patchouli creme by itself lathered in a mug with my usual creme amount and usual brush moisture.

The lather was not too great. It didn't want to stay built up.

The next shave (just now as a matter of fact):

I soaked the brush and used my regular creme amount then lathered on the face. It scared up a decent if not thin lather that stuck with and was passable for a shave. At the end of the first pass, the brush really didn't have enough left for another go.

I rinsed the brush out entirely and repeated the process of soaking it and then I used LESS creme by about half (half an almond sized "snurdle") and the result was great! I got a nice thick lather that stuck around after about 30 seconds of face lathering.

Try fooling around with less creme and very hot water and face lathering. It might just be the ticket.

I have her old cream and I had the problem that it was much more sensitive to the water type that I was using than here soaps.
I decided to stick to soaps as I move around a lot and want something that gives a predictable result, also because I think the soap goes further.
