    Default poor soap

I think I just had a poor soap experience. I ran out of Col. Conk amber shave soap. Had a puck of Urban Cowboy shave soap on hand so put that to use for the first time.
The soap foamed up real quick but looked airy instead of creamy like the Col. Conk. I applied it then began stropping the razor. In a minute the lather had dissapeared off my face so I applied more. It vanished again. Applied more... Thats how the whole shave went. Also the soap began to sting on my face. Never experienced that before with any other soap.
Luckily I have some Truefitt & Hill Luxury shave soap on order as well as some Darby Super Shave cream.
    The soap trials began!

wow that would get frustrating real quick sounds like you would have to use your brush in one hand and your razor in the other

that soap would be a good joke to give to a fellow straight shaver instead of disappearing ink is seems you have found a disappearing soap

+1 on the T&H. Just opened a new puck. Good soap.

I have a very similar problem with my Wilkinson Sword soap - if I lather it up on my face it's gone by the time i get to my top lip and chin, if i lather it up in a cup it's difficult to get it to stick to my face peoperly - it seems more like froth than foam. i've got a great stick of palmolive that is seeing me very well for now and i also have some TOBS cream coming for xmas :-)

    Question Soap Revival?

Can stale shaving soap be revived or re-charged? I have read about adding glycerin, bentonite clay, and other additives. Can someone tell about how much additive is effective. (Trade secrets and techniques welcomed). My soaps are getting stale and do not keep lather very long. I am using rainwater; however, the humidity is very low these winter days and lather is not staying very long. New soap always seems to lose lathericity (is that a word?). Just trying to get more lather for the lucre...Robert

    Default disapearing lather

I was told that lather that vanishes too quick is the result of too much water. Try the same soap with less water.
also, do a search for Jockeys video about lather.
Sorry, I don't know the link off hand.
I had miraculous results after watching the vid.
