Thanked: 174I think Jordan will be referring to this soap.
Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap
For those who know it and can be bothered to seek it out, it has an enviable reputation as a great soap. Not everybody gets on with lanolin and so there are a few who it won't suit, but not many.
I have to admit to having never tried it or Musgo cream. I have tried Kent's soap which I think is the same as Mitchell's wool fat soap, but I'm not totally sure of my facts . If they are the same, the Puck of Kent soap can often be found on ebay.co.uk at reasonable prices. The Kent soap I have tried and yes it gives a good shave
but I found lathering the product was harder work than some of the other top shelf English soaps.
I'm not sure, but I think Valobra, an Italian stick soap is another similar type of product. Another soap I've not tried but with a good reputation for quality.
Oh so many quality products to feast upon. One of them will be your favorite. Until you find a better one. SAD, isn't it.
You can find the product at this site

Never used them but I'm sure they will be fine.Last edited by English; 12-14-2008 at 12:37 PM.

I just got a puck of DR Harris Marlborough yesterday! I can't wait to try it. I love their Arlington and Lavender soaps too. All the tallow soaps mentioned are great. I also really like the Floris soaps. I think Trumper just replaced tallow with veggie, but its still a good performer. AOS is an excellent soap as well. Volabra, as stated above is a good soap, and a little less expensive. I think Tabac is tallow, but I could be wrong.

Thanked: 174I prefer to use the reformulated products following the mad cow disease in the UK.
I don't see he need to take any risk with the old tallow based products and I commend the suppliers who changed their formulations.
Floris, Trumpers and T&H are three soaps that have reformulated their product and replaced the tallow base with a vegetable base and maintained a standard of excellence.
But that's my personal choice.

Thanked: 174Well, I don't know quite what to say. I still eat beef so maybe I am being stupid. It won't be the first time, that's for sure.
