Default Using Shaving Cream/Soap in conjunction with cologne

Just wondering to you guys who wear aftershave/cologne do you use a scented shaving cream/soap too? or do you keep it neutral?
If you use a scented shaving soap/cream do you then skip adding other scents (i.e. aftershave/cologne) for the rest of the day?
Do the scents from shaving creams/soap last long, and are they noticeable afterwards (not visually of coarse, haha)?

My soap or cremes, while scented themselves, don't leave any scent on me to speak of. So a scented aftershave or cologne isn't a problem, in fact I prefer it to going scentless.

So the scent of the cremes/soaps is more for while you're shaving and not a long lasting smell?

I'm just looking at buying some my first shaving creme at isn't crap in a pressurized can from the supermarket, and considering I use aftershave/cologne I'm just wondering if I should go with a scentless cream or not.

On one hand I don't want the smell to interupt with my after things, but on the other hand having a fresh smell and feel while I shave would be nice.

The scent of creams/soaps doesn't last, so it does not impact what cologne/as I might use. That being said, sometimes I use creams or soaps that have a scent in the same "ballpark" as the cologne I'm going to wear.

Correct. It's one of the luxuries of his hobby, mixing and matching the products -- shave cream, aftershave (splash or balm), and EdTs for whatever suits you that day.

I am, or perhaps I should say my girlfriend is, able to smell the scent of my shaving soap or cream even after I have finished shaving. While the scent must be quite mild, it is nevertheless present and detectable (though perhaps only during close contact. For this reason, I typically choose neutral aftershave balms. I used to exclusively use a balm from Nivea, but I have recently been gifted some Proraso balm that goes nicely with my Proraso shave cream.

I think I may just buy a scented soap/cream and then also an unscented soap/cream.

I sounds like the scents don't overpower any scented aftershave/cologne use post shace, so I may be alright.

Having built a nice collection of EdT over the years through gifts from other people (who have good taste thankfully, or should I say good noses (mild chuckle)) I would probably let me EdT influence the cream/soap I use and not the other way around.

I'll post what I decide to buy and get some feedback on whether it passes the stringent standards of the collective StraigthRazorPlace community.

I like Bay rum scented soaps and aftershaves but they are not strong, at least not in my skin.
