Dr. Harris Opinions?
What's the word on Dr. Harris products, esp. the soaps? I'm thinking of getting some, and I wanna know if they're any good.

IMHO, they are outstanding. I have the Arlington, Lavender, and Marlboro soap. The scents are all very mild, so they don't blow your head off, and the performance is up there with any other product.
I also really like their Sandalwood aftershave lotion. It's a "tangy" scent, not pure sandalwood, but superb. It also moisturizes very well for an alcohol splash.
I plan on buying many more DR Harris products on the future.

Thanked: 174Yes, they do a good quality range of products. Their soaps and creams are amongst the best. They are comparable with G F Trumper, Truefitt & Hill etc., and have been in business for a long long time. I have found their hard soap to last a long time but IMHO it produces a slightly thinner lather. This said, I live in a hard water area. The creams are as good as all the other English makers and it really comes down to which scent you prefer or price.

Hi there,
I've tried a fair number of shaving soaps, and would rank the DR Harris 'Marlborough', to be among the very best. Only Harris product I've tried, and it almost compares to the Institut Karite or Floris, if that helps. Excellent thick, slick, and cushiony lather. The skin care is quite good as well.
Just last week I received a few more refills from Paul over at Welcome To Connaught Shaving A pair of em ran me just under $30, which included shipping from the UK to US. He also has some very good prices on MWF items as well. Nice guy, quick, and easy to deal with.
Hope that helps,

Nice, I just put in an order at gents.com (Norwegian company) for an Edwin Jagger brush with stand and a Dr. Harris Arlington soap. Now I just need a razor, hone and strop!

I have tried 11 different soaps this far and definately keep on going. Dr Harris is my #1 in soaps closely followed by T&H luxury.

Nice, it's always good to start at the top, that way you never gonna need to try out stuff that might not be so great... Now I just want it to arrive, hopefully within next week.

Thanked: 953I've tried about 25 soaps and I think DRHarris is the best. On any given day I might prefer another but overall DRH is tops.
For perspective, I've tried (in addition to DRH almond, arlington and marlboro) the following soaps:
AOS unscented
Valobra Almond
Valobra Stick
MWF
Tabac
TOBS Lav and Sdlwd
QED - several
MB rosemary mint
HBS bayrum
ogallalah bay rum
speick stick
Institut Karite
Pre de Provence
L'Occitane Cade
C&E SAO and Sdlwd
GFT Limes and Rose
Classic Violet and Limes/Coconut
Conk
DRH takes a back seat to none [although many of the others rock too]

BTW, has anyone tried their creams? I'm a bit intrigued by their lavender cream for traveling...

Not tried the cream, but the almond soap provides a good lather with a mild scent. I find it a bit harsh on my skin, but don't let that deter you, as i have yet to find a soap that isn't.
