Thanked: 19Anyone else ever do this?
I was taking a shower and got about halfway through before I noticed that I had no soap in the shower or in the bathroom cabinet. With my most recent razor, I got some of their classic brand almond shaving soap that they threw in. I was most underwhelmed with the soap, and didn't plan on using it any further, so I figured why not just wash with that?
So I did.
My question is in three parts: 1) Has anyone else ever done this? 2) What, if any, are the cleaning properties of shaving soaps; and 3) are they any different than shaving creams when used in the context of the shave? (obviously I wouldn't try to wash myself with shaving cream )

The soaps should work just as well for cleaning yourself as any other generic soap, since they are just that, soap. I don't really think there's a difference in the results when you use cream vs. soap, the only difference is that creams are a bit easier to work with (less mess, less cleanup)

Gold-dachs shaving soap, and Tabac make excellent body soaps, really. Loooooove the Gold-Dachs scent. If it was cheaper, I'd use it as a regular shower soap. But since it's 22 bucks a puck...

Never have tried that but I have gone in the opposite direction. I have shaved with a shaving brush since around 1973 and for many years lathered with Dove soap. I don't recommend it and I have moved on to the great shaving soaps available now but it will do in a pinch.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I would first have to ask how you made it through half of a shower without soap???
Then i would respond to you by saying i have used shaving soap...and would agree with others that it cleans just as well as regular soap...
FWIW Mama Bears glycerin shave soaps make good bath soap...and her CP Bath soaps are awesome as well... I love them and so does my wife.

Thanked: 32I've done that...and with the same soap. Classic almond is much better as a bath soap than as a shaving soap.
