what are the characteristics of good lather? Is it suppose to have many tiny little air bubbles or is it supposed to be creamy like cool whip? how much cream should I use? what about shaking the brush; it is a vulfix super badger brush, do i have to shake it until it is almost dry or dont shake it at all? i'm honestly confused and i have been trying different methods of lathering but i'm still not sure.

There's plenty of threads on making good lather- check the wiki or do a search for "uberlather".
In the mean time, squeeze out, but do not shake out your brush (or maybe just a couple of gentle flicks). Use about an almond-sized dab of cream

Good lather should look and feel like a fluff (whipped cream) in your face. When you start building the lather, start with little water and add more if needed. Remember, you can always add more water. Shaking or squeezing would do somewhat the same as long as the amount of water left in the brush is comparable. Any good quality brush would do the trick (Vulfix have good reputation). You could use a few drops of glycerin or try uberlather (as mentioned). I will try to post a picture tonight but there are other already in the wiki.
