    Default Soap trials

Iv'e been using an assortment of soaps and one cream in my shaving. Thought I'd give a recap.

Trufitt & Hill Luxury Shave Soap- Nice clean, fresh smell like ivory soap. Lathers qiuck with minimal water and the lather is creamy with good body. Applies smoothly and holds up throughout the shave and the lather in the shave bowl holds up for a second application. Did not dry out my face and rinsed clean.

The Gentlemen's Quarter Shave Soaps- Pick a scent and brighten up your day! Excellent blends of real essential oils and natual ingredients including goat milk and shea butter makes for smooth passes with the razor and the scents wake me up almost as good as coffee. I have the "Desert Ironwood" Savon De Campagne" and "Highlander". The Savon De Campagne is my favorite, the aroma leaps out of the bowl. The soaps lather up nicely but seem to take a little more water during the process than the Trufitt & Hill. The lather holds up fine for two or more passes with the razor. I like to rinse and re apply lather for a second pass and maybe a third for touch ups and just to spend more time shaving with Gentlemen Quarter soap! The soap cleans up well and doesn't dry my face. I'm looking forward to trying their other varieties.

I purchased all of these mid November last year in one ounce sample sizes and switch off using them. I still have plenty left.

I have also been using Derby Mentol Shave Cream. Light on the menthol, lathers up nicely from an almond sized dab and a couple of drops of water added during the lather buiding. The lather holds up through a couple of passes.

I find the lather from the soaps lubricate better and seems denser than the lather from the cream.

    have a great shave!

Concur with your Dannyr on Colleen's soaps. I got a tube of Lavanda cream from Leon over the weekend and tried it yesterday. I was very impressed with it. It is also priced very competively woth some of the more expensive creams. I also really like the T&H shave creams (bought from Don and Lynn). I use Colleen's soaps exclusively when it come to soaps. But I do use a few varieties of creams. I don't have Castle-Forbes, but they are very highly touted.

Thanks for the thumbs up on the Lavanda cream. I was thinking of purchasing it. I purchased the La Toja aftershave and 444 balm from leon and they are really great! My favorite combo. Leon ha some rightous stuff!
