Jeff, I use other lanolin products (MWF, for example) with absoltuely no problems, but any product I have used with menthol has irritated me. Musgo as well--though with Musgo, the irritation was very, very mild. Because, I think, the menthol amount is small.

Only just picking up on this thread guys - apologies.

Yep, I think it was the lanolin - I gave MWF (Kent) soap a try this week. The effect was pretty similar, although not as bad as Musgo. Nothing severe, but itching and a bit of redness were the common theme. I used a good balm on top which probably minimised the effects.

The soaps and creams from castle forbes tend to give me a slight irritation. Nothing serious enough to stop me from using them. The Gentlemen's Quarter products are for my skin the mildest and are the ones I prefer on a daily basis. They are less expensive too.

I have the same thing with menthol, the slightest amount and I feel a burn within seconds. Same with sandalwood. Both are scents I like too.

    irritate my face:

CF Limes: Wow, amazing scent, unbelievable lather. I
love this stuff, but can't use it... *sigh*

Musgo Real: Nice scent, great performance. I can get
amazingly smooth shaves with it, just not comfortably.

Do any of you find yourselves in the same unfortunate
    position?

Sorry to here about CF. I use both the lime and the sandalwood/cedar without problem in fact they are my favorite creams.

I know Rich, they lather soo well and the scents are
unbelievable. I would still be interesting in trying
our cedarwood/sandalwood since it may be a lime
    EO thing.

That is a possibility. They do make up a great lather. In fact I am almost out of my lime. Looks like I will have to shell out some more money goooood stuff for me.

the classic shaving lavender shave cream. absolutely amazing latherability, but i'm allergic to lavender, so it makes me sneeze and sometimes itch a little bit. nothing wrong with the cream, though, just my allergies.

TGQ Cavendish Black is a great performing cream with a top shelf scent, but after a few shaves, my face starts to tingle. It really is too bad because I'd like to use it more.
