Just had a great shave with my Valobra combo.

Combo? What combo, you ask? Well, as has been shown....I like to tinker with stuff. I get a razor, perhaps the outline isn't to my liking, or is missing a thumbnotch...so I put one on there!

Same with my lathering suds: So, I had been using Valobra, the soft stuff, and then I had heard the the Valobra stick was tallow based, so I picked up a stick locally (Colonial Drug in Harverd Square, where you can also oogle the Plissons behind the glass....). Now, what to do with a tub of squishy Valobra, and a rock hard stick of Valobra? I sliced up the stick like it was a salami is what I did, and proceeded to insert the slices into my Valobra tub, like a flower or something. Anyhow, all I know is I've been using this Valobra "combo" since early summer, and I likee.

But, I had wandered, as had happened with the Tabac. I spent a bunch of time dinking around with some other stuff, and the Valobra went up on a shelf for a while.....

Tonight it came back with a vengence! I really loaded up the brush, and proceeded to build a fantastically dense, smooth lather. Just wonderful! I usually add a dash of KMF to any lather to aid in moisture retention, but the lather tonight was so beautiful it would have been a crime to do anything other than simply swoosh it all over my whiskers!

Very nice shave! Like shaving in marzapan castle or something! I could have easily stopped after two passes, as I had got a quite close shave at that point, but there was plenty of lather left, and it was only shave #2 on my new John Bagshaw razor, so I proceeded with pass #3.

Nice! Maybe not quite as slick as Tabac, but it does have nice cushion. Give it a go!
