Schwarzweisskeramik or some like it hot
My schwarzweisskeramik scuttle arrived yesterday. I used it for the first time this morning with lather from Harris marlborough soap. Wow! the lather was warm through a leisurely three pass Saturday morning shave. The scuttle is massive and the internal ridges contribute to fast lather build-up. The resevoir holds almost a liter of water.
This scuttle definitely contributes to a great shaving experience.

Congrats. Sounds like a keeper. I've been going back and forth over whether or not to get a scuttle. I'm afraid I'll stop using it do to inconvernience.
Schwarzweisskeramik is one of those words that I can't even begin to try to sound out or read.

Thanked: 278I've bought several items in an attempt to assemble the perfect scuttle. With the total money I've spent I could have just bought one of those great schwarzweisskeramik scuttles.

Thanked: 271I've had one of those schwarzwei... er scuttles for about three months and I love it. One word of advice, however. In the beginning I brought an electric teapot into the bathroom to add boiling water after I warned it up with hot tap water during the shower. Boiling water is absolutely NOT NECESSARY and TOO HOT. It dries out the lather too fast and hot tap water is more than sufficient.

Thanks for the reminder. My wife read the German instructions that mine came with. They warn about water temp over 80c(176F) which is well below boiling as causing damage. My experience with bowl lathering is that overheating leads to dry lather as well.
I have not found that using a scuttle adds more time than using a simple bowl which I also heat in the sink while I shower.
