First soaps from TGQ!

Hey guys,

I posted a while back looking for soap suggestions for Mama Bears (and thanks BTW), and somehow ended up ordering from Colleen first. Don't get me wrong, I still fully intend to try Mama Bear's soaps, so your suggestions were not in vain.
Anyway, I ordered Colleen's Sandelwood and her lavender as a starter, and my package arrived in just over a week. When I opened the envelope I found the two soaps I ordered and a surprise as well - Colleen threw in three samples as well! All three samples were scents I was curious about, but was planning on trying further down the road. Thanks Colleen, you have my business!
I tried the sandelwood a couple of nights ago and was not disappointed, both by the scent and the performance. So if there are any newbs venturing into the world of soaps for the first time I would strongly recommend The Gentleman's Quarter.

I have not found any soaps to out perform Colleen's soaps. The fact that they have a wonderful, natural and clean scent just adds to the reasons why I use her soaps exclusively.

I love the sandalwood & vanilla, the leatherneck and others. There is a thread on Coleen's soaps with a couple of thousand posts. Top notch stuff.

dward, I did happen to know that you use Colleen's soaps exclusively, so I knew you must be on to something.

I tried it again last night and it was great, but I did notice there was a quite a difference in lather when made directly on my face and when made in a bowl. It could just be me, as I find every soap needs some work to get the perfect lather for that particular soap. Has anyone else found this to be the case?

When I shaved DE I was primarily a face latherer. Forum member The Topher showed me how to lather in a bowl and I have done that ever since. Way better IME. YMMV

Yeah, Colleen's soaps work really well for me. I should use them more often. Try Sue's soaps as well, they're different and being glycerin based I had much easier time building lather from them when I first started.
We are fortunate to have access to lot of great stuff.

I also have found Colleen's cream to be top notch. Love it.
