    Default Shave Cream Quality

Hi guys, I was wondering if you find great variation between the various shaving creams. I have pretty much stuck to TOBS and have found variation between the lavender and the hypo allergenic. The hypo allergenic simply does not lather as well. I am wondering if Trufitt and Hill and Castle Forbes are really that much better as creams and lathers. Any thoughts? I seem to prefer the British creams at the moment.I get the (mistaken?) impression that creams may be much more hydrating than soaps, true?

Yes to the variability within one brand's lineup. For TOBS, I got the best results from rose and avocado (till I started getting allergic to it). Among GFT's creams, coconut oil was the best for me.

While some creams are very hydrating, I don't think your statement is true. You don't have look further than MWF.

Finally, I don't think T&H is that much better than TOBS or GFT for that matter. But yes, CF is the bee's knees. Price is high, but it is so concentrated (it is practically a soap) that you need to use so little each time.

I have to agree with Ray. I have CF lavender and it's one of my best along with Blenheim Bouquet. I have found that you do get what you pay for with soap and cream.

I noticed you mentioned becoming allergic to certain soaps/creams. I have always had very sensitive skin when it comes to soap, lotion, aftershave and cologne. I just started trying some different soaps and want to start trying creams, but the ones that I come across that my skin can handle are worthless and usually hypoallergenic.

Long story short I was hoping for any suggestions or recommendations.

    Thanks

+1 with MWF on sensitive skin...

Also one that gets very little press around here is the Velobra soft soap

Cream wise I have always like Kiss My Face for sensitive skin even their scented is mild.....

For the OP yes Castle Forbes is really that good.... I don't know if I would say more hydrating, but more cushion yes from the creams, and more glide form the soaps... IMHO

MWF had my skin burning by the time I finished my first pass. I've heard the lanolin can give people trouble. This is the only soap/cream I've had a problem with.

I am in the same boat. I am allergic to MWF. I get along with everything else and use other tallow soaps and have no problem, thank goodness. I use the tallow version of Penhaligon's and have no problems at all, go figure.
