    Default Institut Karite Shave Soap

    How many like this soap.

I tried it last night and it was good. I think i made it too dry at first and then went right to too wet. My fault I was careless with the water splash. I did a practice lather the day before and it was creamy and slick. Will try it again tomorrow. It seemed to do better with my bigger loft brush than with my short one that I normally use with MWF. Perhaps because it is a bit softer and more of a cream lather than a soap lather.

I am really starting to think I like soaps with no scent ala MWF, IK, DRH Arlington (I know it has a scent but too me it is ever so light).
However I will always keep Tabac in my rotation.

Ok what do you say about Institut Karite Shave Soap

I've not used IK but am a fan of Pre de Provence, a shea butter soap in the same family. The scent is very clean and provides a great lather, different than Tabac/Penhaligon's etc but very good in it's own way. If you find you like IK, I would recommend PdP as the scent is clean and in the same family as MWF.

    Enjoy

The french shaving soaps are quite good, IK and PdP along with Provence Sante are highly regarded amongst most wet shavers. These three all have shea butter which is a terrific ingredient for your skin.

IK is great stuff, one of my favorites. It lathers incredibly easily, on par with Tabac. The quality of the lather is excellent, and is almost more of a cream texture than a soap texture. The smell is great, fresh and light. IK puck is hard and dense, and lasts a lot longer than it's size would indicate, pumping out quality lather every time.

IK is similar to Provence Sante, another shea butter French favorite of mine. To me, Provence Sante has an edge in slickness, IK has an edge in cushion/luxury.

IK is excellent. Very protective, but kind of thin lather. Unoffensive fresh smell. Really leaves the skin feeling nice.
