Are you kidding me? I don't know about the QED, but Erasmic and Cella both have lovely scents. I think you might have gotten a bad batch. Or your nose is broken.

He didn't mention Cella. in his first post he said: crema da sapone... <GONE>(virgilio valobra)- smells like detergent + rancid vanilla

where the "(virgilio valobra)" is the name of the brand. I have no idea why he put in "crema da sapone" in the start where he put the other brand names. Seeing as crema da sapone just means something like "Creamy soap" or "Cream soap".

Cella is another brand alltogether afaik.

    pics to illustrate:

    First up is Valobora:

    Second pic is the Cella:

I don't know if they smell the same. But it certainly seems that it is two different brands. The fact that they both call it crema da sapone surely does not make them the same though. That would be the same as saying that Olivias is the same as TGQs which would also be the same as Mamma Bears ect.

It seems he just worded his post badly

They seem to be pretty similar.
The Cella doesn't please my nose either.
That smell is very traditional laundry soap like.
Yet that soap is pretty popular for its abilities and most of the customers have nothing to say against the scent.

Have Cella myself. Don't mind it at all. But its been awhile since I've used it as the creams have pushed their way into my life after I bought a scuttle - for some reason I can't use soap with the scuttle, so to validate my purchase I had to use creams .

Anyhoo I'm 28 and of the stuff that I've tried I don't like Arko, Palmolive or anything with orange in it. Soaps seem for the most part to fade fast enough so that I only really experience them while shaving, so I can pick something that doesn't quite fit the target audience of women I go for. At lectures I have only gotten comments on EDTs those auditoriums can be rather cramped at times.

I think I know what octopus means.. alot of these scents are an acquired smell. I remember when I first started buying shaving supplies, I couldn't stand most of the scents the vendors offered. I was so accustomed to axe and the like. But now I really like just about everything, even the ones I originally found to be nasty, girly, or "old-mannish." I'm still careful about my aftershaves so as not to offend those around me, but for shaving soaps, they don't last long, so I use whatever I like. Bay rum is one of the last ones that grew on me and it wasn't until I smelled the ogallala bay rums. Nice and spicy!

Really? I have exactly that association when I open up my Arko tub. The Cella smells more like a sweeter almond thing to me. I did have to get used to the scent though, but it's OK for me now.

I just ordered a few samples from TGQ as well I can't wait to get them in! I've heard noting but good stuff about TGQ soaps.

    Anyhow enjoy!

I'm 20 and have Taylor of old bond street's lavender soap. I also have st. James shaving cream in a jar and they smells great. They don't have a grandpa smell to them like some other soaps/creams do. I give them 10 out of 10, I love them so much that i got the lavender splash and the st. James a/s and cologne. I'm having great luck with ToOBS products

    Default I agree somewhat

Octopus, I totally agree with you when it comes it Bay Rum, I've smelled a few and they all smell insidious to me, just down right evil. My wife says it smells like old Christmas decorations mixed with mothballs left for a year, I have to agree with her on that one. I've never tried Erasmic, people seem to rave about it, sounds awful from what you've described. Valobra to me seemed way to gross and slipshod in the packaging to even give it try, comes in a bar shap wraped in paper yet it's creamy=gross to me, like an old cheese/mayonaise sandwhich. I have QED's Fresh Lime, and its great smelling, sadly the lather sucks. I cant get it to ever lather more then a liquidy lather, so what I do now is I add hot water to it, let it soaked for a few then pour the extract into my Cryil Salter's Essential Lime or TOB's Lemon/Lime shave creams to give it a boost, otherwise it's useless on its own.

i think originall i thought the mamabears were disgusting, but after smelling these
I have to totally disagree with this one. I love, no wait I absolutely positively love Mama Bear's Clear skies ( Rosemary, Lavander, and Mint) shave soap. I have 2 wooden bowls of it. I use it often, I even bought the aftershave (custom scent) Her Lime Ice aftershave with pepermint n menthol is nuts, best cooling scent ever. Be careful though your eyes will tear its that minty. I also like and have her Dulbin Tweed, and I'm not a guy who goes for cologne scents, but this is a classic.

Octopus, I have a few reccominedations of creams and soaps you might like.

    1. Geo Trumper's Coconut ( very subtle scent, not over powering) The lather is nuts.

    2. Crab Tree and Evelyn's West Indian Sandalwood....blows any other sandalwood scent away by miles n miles.

    3. Speick. Lovely clean fresh/woodsy scent. Not comparable to anything, but amazingly clean smelling.

    4. Classic Shaving's Violet soap. very nice floral scent ( if you like florals) if not it's understandable, not for everyone.

    5. Cryil Salter's Essential Lime. very light lime scent, almost likelime sherbet.

    6. LAST and DEFINITELY NOT LEAST... CLEAR SKIES...MAMA BEAR....
Amazing scent, clean, fresh, with a hint of relaxing rosemary mixed in. I couldn't reccmoned a soap more, and for 8 bucks, you can't beat it.The lather is out of this world.

    ok enough from me
    Cheers
    D
