K so I got my Tabac today I ordered both the cream and soap. I gotta say I was really hesitant to open the box, I have a very sensitive sniffer.

I can't wear cologne or aftershave (though I'm trying witch hazel) because it gives me headaches. My idea of hell is walking down an infinite perfume isle were deamons with high pitched voices spray disgusting perfume at me ,causing me to gag and become so dizzy that I lose all sense of time and reality, just an ongoing swirl of misery and nausea.

plus I'm asthmatic so when people mentioned ciggarettes I thought about aborting the whole thing.

Boy am I glad I didn't! This stuff lathered amazingly I had been having trouble with my lather. I could make it decently (using vdh or c.o.bigelow) but it would take almost 3 minutes and I don't know about you guys but my wrist starts hurting after 40 sec. So it was almost a chore, and wetshaving should NEVER feel like a chore, but I could tell tabac would be different almost instantly.

Right out of the tube ( I decided to use the cream first will try the soap tommorrow) the first thing I noticed was that the cream had a thicker texture, almost like animal fat after being chilled. I liked the quality of the tube as well metal not plastic and thick so no worries of rupturing. Also the cap had a little cylinder inside so when you screw the cap back on the cylinder pushes the cream back inside the tube instead of filling up the cap or gushing out the sides when you tighten it very nice!

It took a little more water than I thought it would to get the lather going but wow the sudsy froth that I had made before couldn't compare to the coolwhip sitting in front of me now, and at half the time and effort.

Now the big question the scent. The first thing I did when I recieved the cream and soap was to smell them to see if I would be able to build a lather without projectile vomiting all over the place. From some of the reviews I had read I was expecting to smell tobacco and patulie(spelling?) oil.

I will say I do not care for the scent but it wasn't anywhere near what I thought it would be. I guess if I had to describe it it would a kinda classic barbershop scent. A whispy powder scent that fades quickly and is replaced by a robust tang that lasts just a few seconds too long and makes your nose crinkle. Not horrible just not a scent I would personnaly seek out. Luckily it almost dissapears when you build the lather and is way fainter(and better smelling) IMO than the witch hazel (dickensons) I may just have to give that high priced thayer's a chance.

I think floorpizza said it best "The scent is so bad it makes we want to gag. The lather is so good I use it anyway"

Amen brother!

I am fan, but only till I find something that lathers this good but without the odor. Heh and judging by the others who have tried it I have a very long journey ahead of me.

One last thing I was wondering has anyone tried making an uber lather with tabac and something else that has helped hide the smell?
