Default Czech & Speake Oxford & Cambridge

After enjoying the C&S No88 shave soap, I figured I best give the Oxford & Cambridge a shot as well.

Apparently they don't have the full sized puck available for some reason, so I got the 3X 25g travel puck box. That worked out just fine, as they fit my new scuttle mug very well.

First off, this is another tallow first soap, just like the No 88 (and AOS), and is made in Italy (the scuttlebutt is that all of these soaps are likely made by Valobra...).

The scent as described on the C&S website:
    Quote:
Oxford & Cambridge, a traditional lavender fragrance, is a fresh and invigorating scent evocative of the English countryside, varsity matches and the great British sporting tradition.

The character of the fragrance is distinctive and full of character. It contains a blend of English and French lavender, topped with herbaceous peppermint and rosemary essential oils with bergamot on a base of warm oak moss.

To me, the scent comes across as almost all lavender, but somehow the mint brightens it up without it smelling minty at all. It somehow makes the lavender really *pop*. Nice and fresh.

    Now then, the shave:

I had found the No 88 to be a bit finicky in the lathering department, as it tended to dry out pretty quick. It seems to me, that the Oxford & Cambridge does not behave the same way, as I got nice creamy lather, and it stayed hydrated no problem. Interesting....Anyhow, fans of tallow soap performance will not be dissapointed in how the Oxford & Cambridge gets the job done.

The scent once lathered is quite light, certainly not overpowering. The No 88 creates a cloud of aroma that you bask in througout the shave. The O&C seems much lighter and more subtle once lathered.

I give the Oxford & Cambridge a big thumbs up!

Is this soap still in your rotation Seraphim? I realize you wrote this several years ago but I've been searching online for some reviews of this product and found yours. & have you tried their A/S?

    shakinjake,

If you look at Seraphim's profile you'll find that not only is this thread a few years old, but that he has not been active at SRP for some time either. I won't bore you with the details, but his return is not likely any time soon. You'd be better off asking your questions to our current active members.
