    Default Camping in the desert

Somehow, after a decade of admant refusal to go, a number of friends have convinced me to head a bit out of town for Burning Man. Seeing as I am not a filthy neo-hippy (all in jest I assure you), I plan on taking out a kit for the week.

My question is mostly hypothetical, but if you were spending a week in the desert what soap/cream would you bring out? Ease of lathering, mosturizing, scent? I am pretty sure I am taking either a tub of Proraso or a tube of Bigelows, but the decision process left me curious as to other options and thoughts.

If it were me, from my experience, i would take out one of my creams...most likely the Olivias menthol or the Proraso cream...both are very forgiving soaps, both for a duller blade as well as not being able to use boiling water and the usual prep i do at home.

Some sort patchouli scented cream as camouflage?

I suppose if you could boil water, then just go old school and take a scuttle and use whatever you want for shaving. Hey, how about a solar oven to heat your steam towels? Shave late in the day? You could even boil the water that way. That would fit right in.

The shave sticks are really good for camping.

I've gotta go with Lynn on this one.

A full bar of soap is clunky.

A tube or tub of creme can break open and cause a huge mess.

Shave sticks are small, easy to pack, effective and comparatively cheap.

I usually take a shave stick. Rarely, a brushless creme.

    Gentlemen,

Lynn makes an excellent point. I, too, would take a shave stick. The more compact and practical the shaving supplies, the less complicated and more comfortable the shave.

    Regards,

A tube of KMF is very compact and works well and I think I would choose Vanilla Earth as the flavor. Don't forget the mirror.

Shave stick. Camp stove to heat water. Solar stove/oven works, too. Witch Hazel for the heat.
You can revel in the fact that after your shave will will be the celanest shaved person there. Hell, BEFORE your shave you will likely be so.

I've always wanted to go. I would say I am certainly not a neo-hippy, but many of my friends are. I just really enjoy a good party, no matter who throws it (well, I guess the Klan or other _____ Power groups), and I enjoy experiencing different cultures, both counter and otherwise.

    Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!

I would probably bring a Proraso soap. I also like the Böker paddle for camping.
