Dr. Harris and Co.
I have been a big fan of Dr. Harris and Co. shaving cream for a LONG while now, but never see it mentioned here. Anyone else use it? Any opinions?

Doug,
I have never seen it. Where do you get it?

RICH,
I'd never heard of it either... but you may know it under the "Arlington" name. It's carried by a large number of dept stores and internet shops (eg, nashvilleknifeshop, etc.). The company's been around for a LONG time... here's their main site: www.drharris.co.uk
Incidentally, while looking around for this I stumbled on a shaving product survey document written by an fellow named Al Medrano. His name is unimportant, but the document lists quite a number of products (~page 12) I never heard of. Maybe this is old news to some of you, but it's an interesting read if you havn't seen it before.
You'll find it here ...azjoe

You can find DR Harris here: http://knoxcigar.com/drhashcr.html
I have a tube of the almond. Upon receipt, I opened it up and gave it a good sniff, and I was disappointed, felt like the "aroma" was week. Then I used it. WOW! The scent really comes out when you whip it up.
I really like the stuff, and will definitely buy more!

Dr. Harris and co.
Yeah, I like it a great deal myself. I buy it at www.greenpond.com. It is pretty expensive... but, on the other hand, I use maybe a dollop the size of a small pea to shave my entire face. It is pretty concentrated.
I HATED the Arlington smell, by the way. I much prefer the almond.

Thanked: 4While I haven't tried their cream, the shaving soap is very highly praised. I've got some coming from Knoxville Cigar and will post here after I've used it a few times.

I have the DR Harris almond hard soap, and I would put it up against ANY other shaving medium (I have never tried the cream). Every bit as thick a lather as one could get from the top tier creams, and, in my experience at least, more lubricating. This stuff has totally changed my view on hard soaps. The almond scent is very subtle, and really just smells nice and clean. I don't care for the almond scented creams, and this smells nothing like them... top notch stuff. I look forward to trying their arlington scented soap at some point.

Thanked: 2A blast from the past, Al Mendrano's letter to Gillette in December of 2003.

This guy is a classic and I noticed that link here had expired. So I went to the Wayback Machine to get it.
I think that it might be good for posterity if someone could archive this on SRP as I am sure the SIC will want The Wayback Machine to remove it!
I have a strong gut that this led to G acquiring TAOS years later....Necessity is the mother of invention
