I've tried with a shave cloth and my hands were far too slippery. It was inconvenient to continually dry my hands mid shave. On the website Charles recommends the S200 for straight razors. $175 is a lot to splurge on a brush at the moment. For now I switch between a DE feather / cloth method or a Str8 and rooney brush /Castle Forbes.

Thanked: 2I have tried it and it works just fine. For the time being, though, I'm sticking with a DE.

I used to, but now I don't really bother. It's not because I didn't find the products to be effective, but they were more trouble and more mess than I got with a regular shaving soap and they weren't that much better to justify the extra effort. Interestingly enough, in one of his first missives on the topic of wetshaving in general, and the Enchante line in particular, the manufacturer pretty much dismissed straights out of hand, but as our particular niche of the hobby has grown they seem to have changed their stance somewhat. If you do try them, I found the hard shaving rounds and their super paste to give the best results. I also used to do touch up with a mix of their regular paste and the Cutting Balm along with a 3/8 Bowdins wedge, I carried on doing this even when I wasn't using their other products, and only stopped when I ran out of Cutting Balm. Their A/S Conditioner however is one of the best aftershave products I've ever tried, and although the products are designed to be used as a system, I'd never be without the Conditioner eventhough I'm not a regular Method shaver.
Kindest regards,
Alex

Thanked: 3I used Method Shaving soap and paste exclusively at the beginning, but later started using triple milled soaps. Now I only use method shaving soap and paste about once a month. I get excellent results.
