    Default Winter Cool/Lather Warm

So winter is arriving and I have been getting lazy. I have a small apartment here and it's getting cold. The hot water heater is small. So when I get out of the shower I'm out of hot water. I don't have much for a shave and worse (my beard soaked in the hot shower) the lather is cold. My bowl is cold and I can't get it warmed up either.

I'm looking for some ideas on how to get a hot lather in the morning easy. I have to admit that I have a traditional bathroom with straight razors, a few strops, and some old stuff lying around for "ambiance" and the idea of a plug in heater is a big turn off, but I'm desperate. So heaters or plug ins or not...anybody got any ideas for a guy with cold lather in the a.m. who is losing his classicshaving cool....mmmm heat....

this morning I almost poured my coffee into my shaving mug for a warm "cappaccino" scented shave cream....

What about a sealable travel type soap container http://www.classicshaving.com/catalo...344/404585.htm that you could take into the shower with you and use the same hot water you are using to shower with to heat your soap.

try a rival hot pot. just warm up the water while you are in the shower. it has about a quart. unplug it and then use a latte cup. take your brush and soak it under the tap, and then quickly into the hot water. (dont let the water boil or if you do, let it cool three minutes or so) i let my water go to the point where you see air bubbles start to rise. take a cream or soap and just lather in the latte cup. i take the latte cup, before i lather cream in it, and take in the hot water, heat the cup up and then pour it back into the hot pot and then i lather. while shaving, i rest the brush in the cup and float it in the hot pot. keeps the brush and lather very warm. yummy

I use a thermos and water for a hot water dispenser that we have (192f). I would suggest boiling some water and putting it in a small thermos. The Rival pot sounds real good too.

If cold lather is the issue, I also recommend the hot pot. I heat mine once I am out of the shower as it heats up very quickly, and I don't want the water to actually boil. One thing you can do is find a mixing bowl or pot that will float, allowing you to set the lather in the hot pot (be sure it is unplugged before doing this) to stay warm.

Ok here is the best way. Go to classic shaving and buy a shaving scuttle http://www.classicshaving.com/catalo...952/429489.htm

This way you boil water pour it in the scuttle then put your brush in to soak. At the end of of your shower you will be all set.

    Cheap and simple way.

Before I get in the shower I put some water in a pot on the stove. I put some hot water in my mug with the brush, this way the mug and brush get warm. I get out of the shower and get the pot of water, pour 'very hot' water into the mug with brush then empty and lather. I then put the mug in the pot with the hot water and set it on the counter/toilette or whatever. I cover the mug/brush with a warm rag when I am not using it.

This way the lather is warm the whole shave.
