Thanked: 0Melting soap?
I thought I saw somewhere here before where somebody mentioned melting a cake of soap to fit the base of the mug. I thought that was a great idea, so without thinking I popped a mug with a cake of Williams soap in the microwave for 35 seconds. My goodness, I'm an idiot.
Does anybody do this melting to form the soap? If so, how do you do it?
(still feeling stupid 30 minutes after. My excuse is mental strain from a long, long day.)

The hard cakes don't melt the way you'd expect in the micro. My guess is you ended up with a big brown bubbly mess that stunk up the kitchen for a few hours.....? From what I hear, you need a double boiler to melt those. Same story for Taylors soaps, the hard milled ones. Classicshaving.com's soaps will melt easily in the micro. So will most any glycerine based soap so it goes. I have melted both the classicshaving soap and all varieties of Col Conk glycerine soaps in the micro with nice results. 35 seconds is too long for me, but I would suggest watching it carefully as it goes............Jeff
