    Default Sweet Mama Bear Sue

    Gentlemen,

To dispense an exceptionally good product with tasteful packaging and impeccable service is a quality deserving the highest praise. And here I offer it wholeheartedly.

I speak of Sue, soap mistress and proprietor, and of her shop Mama Bear's Soaps at Bear Haven LLC. I could not be more pleased with my introduction to Mama Bear's unscented shave soap, Mama Bear store, and Sue herself.

First I must thank you gentlemen for recommending Mama Bear shaving soaps. I had tried more shave soaps and creams to supply half a city. I regret to say not Mama Bear. Finally last week I ordered a puck of the unscented shave soap. That it arrived, I think, the next day caught me by surprise. What's this? Was I expecting a package? Yes, my Mama Bear soap.

The packaging bore Sue's fine taste, and it was perfectly wrapped. The soap was tucked inside a black and white plastic travel jar, which I found especially useful since I shave at the gym weekdays.

Of course, the test was the soap. Gentlemen, this is one of the two great shaving soap I have tried. The other is Mitchell's Wool Fat, which I used for the first time three weeks ago. There, too, I thank you gentlemen for your recommendation.

Mama Bear's extravagant lather and silky smooth glide are intensified by the waterfall quality of the moisture. This is good stuff. Great stuff. In the future I might try some of the scented ones, although as a rule I prefer unscented shave soaps.

Most of all, though, I was most impressed with Sue herself. Through several e-mails I discovered a sweet, down-to-earth and genuine human being. An artist, of course. A rare person, even. What Sue has created in this shave soap takes an artist's touch.

So thank you, Sue, for yourself and for your creation. I am delighted to know you both. And, yes, we do have a date for tea and conversation the next time I am wandering northern Wisconsin.

    Regards,

    Obie

+1 to everything you just said, Obie! Great lady, great soap, outstanding service.

I once made a typo on the shipping information form while ordering and the package ended up returning to her. I swear she did not charge me near enough to send it back to me.

Just the other day I treated myself and ordered a puck of her Neroli shaving soap in a wooden bowl. Let me tell you gents that I am excited like a kid on Christmas eve!

    Best,

    Mark

P.S. Her bath soaps and shampoo are also out of this world.

    Obie ,
since you do not like strong scents, try the natural essential oil ones.
I have the Tobacco Leaf Bulgarian Absolute, and it has great smell of fresh tobacco which is not strong at all yet you can gently feel it.
I bet the other scents are just the same.

    I gotta meet Obie.

Someone who writes like this, heaps praise on others, and is this gracious is someone one to share a cigar and a whiskey with.

I have such things and am willing to share.

    My dear Singlewedge,

Bless your heart for the kind words. You are most generous. Of course, I will be delighted to join you in a whiskey and a cigar. What a pleasing invitation. Anytime.

Generosity and kindness are the highlights of this forum. I am astonished at the depth of knowledge and the gracious manner in which it is imparted by everyone, especially the Mentors and the Moderators. Whether a straight razor expert or a pilgrim, everyone is treated with the same respect. Now that, my dear Singlewedge, I truly admire. It is one of the definitions of a gentleman.

The gracious tone of this learned forum is understandable, for it is set by the gentleman for whom I have the highest regard: my friend, mentor and shave guru Lynn Abrams. Indeed, it does start from the top.

So I thank you Lynn and the rest of you gentlemen for defining one of my most favorite sayings, written by the British poet Mathew Arnold: "Life is not a having and a getting, but a being and becoming."

    Regards,
    Obie

Obie i could not have said it better myself. such wonerfull people here. please keep posting i always love reading your post Obie.

and to add on about mama bears soaps i recently got my first shot at using them. i have the rosemary mint, spiced apple cider and the cannabis scents. all lather the same regardless of scent which is a very big plus because i have had others where one scent would work awesome and another would suck. they smell really great and i am very pleased. i also got her summer peppermint aftershave and that has a brisk soothing feeling that i really like. even tho the aftershave was a little on the expensive side for me it will last forever because how little you need to use.

overall A++ work Sue. i am one very satisfied customer and will return for more soaps.
