    Question New to creams

Following the advice I recieved here I sent off emails to ToOBS, Trumpers, Truefit and Hill, Dr. Harris, and Castle Forbes. So far only the ToOBS has arrived, but I requested a sample from them about a week before the others. I recieved the samples for Shave Shop, Sandal wood, and lemon lime (which I am not particularly enthused about, though I have heard great things about the lime scented creams here). The first one I tried was the Shave Shop which didn't work too well for me. I assume it is because it was my first time using a cream, but it also seemed a bit on the dry side (I might have accidentally left it open, not too sure about that). But the sandal wood was a dream. Does anyone have suggestiong on how to best use the creams? I still have some of the shave shop left as well as the sandal wood and the lemon lime and would like to get a better idea of how well they will work for me before I pass on creams.

    Dragon,

Give Crabtree and Evelyn a chance. They sell a great English style cream in three fantastic scents for $15.

    Dragon,

Learning the water/cream ratio is not as complicated as learning to hone a razor, but it takes time and experimentation. Sounds like you left the mix a bit dry.

    Default Water/cream ratio (GFT Sandalwood)

I pull my brush out of the hot water it's soaking in while I'm in the shower and hang it on its stand. I don't shake any of the water out. What drains off of the brush as I'm pulling out of the water is all that leaves the brush. I then plop a dollop (almond sized) of cream into the bowl, grab my brush and whip away. You'll be surprised how much water the glycerin creams can hold. I also find the more you whip, the creamier the lather gets. This provides me with more than enough lather for three passes and re-applications during the passes. Give it a try...especially, with the Trumpers.
