Walgreens also carries UHD Deluxe Shave Soap. It is a nice shaving soap that I use frequently. It makes a thick creamy lather which softens my beard well. There are two types; a beige colored cake which I prefer, and a transparent yellow cake which is almost as good. Both have aloe vera and shea butter.

Order just one puck of your choice of scents from Mama Bear's, Ogallala or SRD and you will throw sticks at Drug Store Soaps.

Thanked: 326I got Van Der Halden shaving brush set from Walmart $7.xx as well as Thayer's Witch Hazel.
Target carries Rose petal glycerin as well as Rite-Aid. But the former is cheaper. CVS carries bigger bottle at $22.
Sally's Beauty Supply carries Jeris Osage. Pinaud AS lotion.
You can also check out some mom and pops shop for Jerris Musk ( what old school barbers use ) it's in orange bottle. I picked up a bunch of aftershave stuff as well as bar of Marvy's soap. William Marvy is reknowned for his barber poles.
CVS carries Pinaud AS lotion as well but I found that mom and pop shop near me for same price is better at 12oz bottle.
Walgreens carry both Pinaud Virgin Island Bayrum and Aftershave lotion.
I don't recall ever seeing shaving soap at any of them other than Walmart.
With regards to brushes, I got most of mine from Gary at shoebox shave shop and picked up some stuff from John at Ogallala Bayrum

A sensitive face...
My SRP brother, although I am still somewhat new to wet shaving, being an African-American(notorious for tough and curly ingrown hair problems),VanDerHagen glycerin shaving soap has been a blessing!

Thanked: 96Starting out, I'd forgo the shaving bowl entirely. Buy a soap that comes in its own bowl, or oversized tin; find a container with similar diameter to your soap, or buy a melt and pour soap and pour it into whatever you want.
I tried lathering on my face the other day and it was soooooooo much easier and quicker than lathering in a mug that it was kind of a "my god, why didn't I do this to START" moment. Lathering on top of a soap puck in a mug is the second easiest (I haven't tried creams). But loading my badger brush and then lathering in an empty bowl is quite difficult as the brush just does not like to pick up a sufficient amount of soap (works much better with the stiffer boar, but still not as well as face or puck lathering).

Williams is my touchstone soap. Any soap that does not
equal or better Williams gets tossed. There is a reason that it
is still on the market after all these years (since 1840).
In all fairness I can only vouch for it since 1970 or so. It is not too
sensitive to water quality and does not trigger my allergies.
I do use a clear glycerine shave soap like "Classic "Gold"
Hypo-Allergenic Shaving Mug Soap" a lot because I have
problems with perfumes and other products. Some of the creams
are killer. Some products give me a single wonderful shave
but if I use them a couple days in a row I turn into a strawberry.
