question on mitchells wool fat
just wanted to know if mwf came in a cream tube, or just a soap puck? if so ,who carries it. if it comes in puck form only is it possible to make a lather in a scuttle by loading up a damp brush with the puck soap and adding a little water? thanks

Wool Fat only comes in soap cake/puck.
Bullgooseshaving supplies & West coast shaving have it at good prices.
Mitchells recommend that this soap is face lathered.
Enjoy.

The way I find works best for me to lather MWF is, as with any puck, to throw a dab of hot tap water on top of the puck. Take my shower and then pour the water off and load the brush. The hot water softens the top enough to allow for easier brush loading IME.
I wasn't aware that MWF recommended face lathering. I used to face lather with any soap but I've found, for me, that lathering in a bowl as seen in Mantic's videos is far superior. YMMV.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I use a scuttle, but really MWF loads and reacts like any other soap - if you've ever used soaps before, just do what you would normally do.
OTOH, I completely agree with Jimmy - I find it really good practice to put a dollop of water on the soap for a few minutes prior to loading the brush - makes it much easer.

BTW, I happen to love MWF for making 'super lather' with a dab of cream added to the bowl. Aside from wool fat's lubricating qualities it also, to my nose anyhow, has no discernible scent. When I began combining cream and soap I used lime with lime, rose with rose and found that it was too much of a good thing.
The wool fat having no scent to speak of allows the aroma of the cream to dominate without clashing as it did when I used a scented soap and cream together.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
