QED sticks
Hey I have an order from Charles on the way with a few sticks, one of which is Frankincense & Myrrh (sp?), I just thought that would be cool to shave with on Christmas morning :-) I have no idea what this stuff smells like ~ am I in for a pleasant, or not-so-pleasant surprise? ..........Jeff

Jeff,
I have a bath soap in that fragrance. I'm not good at describing scents, but it is very pleasant and calming. The experience should be a good one!

Thanks RT. My wife just called and says the UPS guy just dropped it off at the house! I'll see in a few hours :-) ..........Jeff

I got that one too, the Tea tree, Patchouli & Peppermint! I think the last one was Tangerine & Spearmint. I already had a Lime one. Also have a fresh 4-pack of Gladware bowls that I'll melt them into. I too prefer whipping it with a brush. I asked Charles about this and he says early '06 he'll be offering all of the current stick flavors, plus a few more, in soap form. .....Jeff

How do the sticks compare? Do you lather on your face, or do you just smear it on like deodorant?

Keith, the sticks resemble a stick of Old Spice push-up deodorant. The QED sticks, anyway. They are just a glycerine based semi-transluscent soap similar to the Col. Conk soaps (but better). As I understand it, and I don't do this, you can wet your brush, slather it all over the stick, then whip up a lather on your face. My plan, as RT has done, is to melt them into bowls and use them like any other shaving soap. One thing I HAVE done, and I heard this from several, is using the stick to touch up, or blade buff, with at the end of my shave. To do that, I simply rinse my face with hot water after my second pass, rub the stick all over my shaving area like Speed Stick under my arms, then make my third pass. Very slick in this manner. When travelling, I too will just pack a tube of cream or a "bowl" of soap. Hope this is what you were looking for. I highly recommend Charles' shave sticks, in any manner you may choose to use them. .....Jeff

Jeff,
Thanks for the input. Interesting the idea about melting the stick, though it seems like that would only make sense if a cake of soap isn't available in the scent you want?
I might try one, just to try one, but so much product, so little time.
Seems one needs to be careful, bleary eyed early in the morning, not to smear deodorant on one's face and shaving cream under one's arms. Fortunately, Degree can't be easily confused with the pictures of the stick I've seen.

Trying the sticks
Yeah, for what, $7 or $8 each, how can you go wrong? Charles ships via UPS though, so there's that minimum shipping charge that will make any single item expensive. I try to order several things at once when I buy from him. HAHA that's another one of my "justifications". I mentioned this above, but Charles did say he's be offering more of the stick flavors in soap form not too long into the new year. A stick is 2 oz I think. Not sure what size the soap cake form will be. ........Jeff
