    Default Barber-style products

    Hi Everyone,
When i was growing up every time my grandfather would take me to the barber there was always someone getting a straight shave. This barber was very old fashioned and it would remind you of something off TV: Old men (not even there for any kind of service) drinking coffee, chatting, smoking and reading the paper.
    My question is the following:
Jack, the barber always had the following things when doing a shave:
    A straight razor (obviously
    shaving soap
A large bottle of green liquid
A large bottle of blue liquid
    Talcum powder

So my question is, what was the green and blue liquid, and where can it be bought from?

Could've also been a huge bottle of Aqua Velva and Pinaud Lilac Vegetal, two others that are really popular with barbers...

Do you recall what they smelled like?

For the record, the ones that Italia pictured are blue Floid and Proraso.

Ones I saw growing up were Pinaud, Jeris, Osage and Marvy. The first 3 made by American International Industries.

Just keep in mind most barbers ordered products like shave soaps and after shaves and talc and whatnot not because they were top of the line but because they were cheap to buy.

I'm old enough to remember going into barbershops in the 1950s and personally the smells in the shops as I recall them are not enticing me to rediscover those products.

The first thing I thought of was that the Green was some sort of Clubman AS - probably Lime Sec or just the basic Clubman ASL and that the Blue was barbicide. Of course, the barbicide would be in a big jug with combs in it, not some sort of dispensing bottle.

For me it was the Lucky Tiger stuff.

I remember it from dad taking me to the barbers when I was a kid. Just found the stuff online a few years back and bought the Aspen, Bay Rum and the Skin Care Aftershave (green one). I love the stuff...
