Not to nitpick, but isn't this the CREAM thread?
Now I'm wondering: Any new scents in the pipeline for 2010? :hmmm:
CarrieM does it all, Big Dog.
Rob, sounds like an interesting fall scent. I never thought of using food type scents in creams. I will think about it
Oooh... Pumpkin pie...
That or Blueberry Vanilla... I like fruits and vanilla :P
Yeah, I duno about food scents either honestly...might end up making me too hungry hehe :)
One of my favorite fall scents can never be reproduced. Up in the small town in W. PA. that I'm from, when things start to get cooler in the evenings, and the leaves are changing color and falling off the trees, and you can smell a light touch of someone's fireplace going...*sigh*
Like I said...some things will never be able to be reproduced...oh well, guess I'll have to enjoy THAT smell one season a year :p
I've only ever gotten a whiff of Lynn's Black Raspberry Vanilla... I wanted to eat it.
Just have to put it out there that her creams (and now sticks) are ridiculous. My main problem is I can't decided which scent I like best! (poor college student: I don't have the luxury of getting six million shave soaps like some of you guys do lol). I really like the citrus scents (esp. orange and lime) they are crisp clean and fresh, and really pick you up in the evening or wake you up in the morning. Her bay rum is to die for. I normally don't like bay rum but hers smells soooo good. Also good are lemongrass and almond. Occasionally when I'm feeling really under the weather I mix either a little orange or lime with proraso and it makes your face tingle and clears your sinuses and just makes the world a better place.
speaking of which, just felt the need to go lather up with my new lime shave stick. Its a great soap. Really is. Thanks Carrie! (still have to get used to stick form and using the right amount of water... all the more reason to practice... :))
One of our Labs (dogs) stole a puck of Black Raspberry Vanilla shave soap and ate it one night while we were asleep. Had some unpleasant surprises when we returned home from work for a few days. I would advise against eating Carrie's shave soaps and shave creams no matter how good they smell. :nono: :)
And, see, I didn't even know she made shave SOAP. I thought it was just creams... The list just keeps growing!
+1 I know what you mean Avatar, only I grew up with it in N.E. PA and now occasionally am lucky enough to catch a whiff of it now and then on fall motorcycle rides in the rolling hills of N. VA. It's one of those scents that has the magical power to bring life into focus - especially when combined with that cool, exhilarating nip in the fall air.
Yep, (:y) but I am sworn to secrecy. :) :D ;) LOL
Just kidding but I do have shave soaps and shave creams all over the place and I do get to be the first guinea pig. It's great! It's always a challenge to pick the right scent for the day though. Yea, I know. It's rough. LOL :)
I'm jealous...I've wanted a bike for quite a while, but my mother STILL tells me that I'm not allowed (and I'm 33 :p)
Maybe someday I will have to defy her, and get one to ride once in a while anyway ;)
Always wanted to experience that....and I can imagine the smells WHILE on the bike are even more sweet :D
So I just yelled at Carrie about not telling me about these creams and placed an order for the Blk raz vanilla and Frost scents, I'll be testing them both in a couple weeks. :)
Has anyone here tried all the scents?
Joe what scents do you prefer? Which cream/soap are they similar to ( if at all )? Feedback is greatly appreciated.
Jees, that a tough one Ivan. I haven't tried all of her scents yet. She hasn't made shave cream out of all of them yet. What she has made I have tried and I don't recall any scents I don't like. Carrie is still perfecting her shave soaps so I test them also but they still need a little tweaking. The problem is that they need to age for around 6 weeks before using so it is slow going. There are different ways to make the shave soap that are faster but it the quality is different.
What scents do I like best? That's a hard one, like which razor is your favorite. I try to pick the scent to match my mood and the weather. Hot sticky days I like Lime. Power days I like Bay Rum. Relaxing days I like lavender or lilac. I try to rotate through them so some days I just go on a whim. Black Raspberry Vanilla is a really good change of pace. Some days I just feel classic and go with sandelwood or oak moss. Carrie's newest scents are Bamboo/teak and Dragon's Blood which are a really nice change of pace.
Her menthol is to die for. Her orange is a very fresh scent. I can't remember which scents she hasn't used yet but there are a lot, like Ocean breeze or something like that. She still has to find time to experiment with combining scents which will male choosing a favorite even more challenging so I don't even go there.
As with most manufacturers the recipe is basically the same. Some fragrances cause the creams to change so they are modified a little. In the end the scent is a personal preference and hard to recommend.
It would be best of you PMed Carrie and let her know what you like from your experiences. Start with a scent you know you like and ask for a few samples of scents that vary off that. Carrie will be able to make suggestions. Be patient and you will not get scents you don't like. Before you know it you can have a vast selection of scents you really like.
Good luck!
Thanks Joe! Looking at the list she provided I went with Bayrum, Frost, and Black Raspberry Vanilla. I asked for few samplers as well as I'm really intrigued how this Dragon's Blood scent is.
Any requests I have been asked to fill will be completed this weekend and sent out early next week. Thank you to everyone who has expressed interest
:)
Carrie,
Where do I find your creams at?
superspot
Time to bring this thread back from the grave. I reviewed the bespoke http://straightrazorpalace.com/shavi...tml#post588199 yesterday. Tried the Bamboo Teak today. Lavender tomorrow.

Overall impression: If I were a beginner, I would be all over this cream. Its performance is so good that it is a match for Castle Forbes based on price alone. Recommended? Absolutely!
I already have too much cream/soap and I'm quickly running out of room to store them in my tiny little apartment. Plus I don't have a job yet. Based on what I'm reading though I need to PM CarrieM in the near future and get me some of this stuff.
It smells nice. A tad too sweet to make it into my personal arsenal, but nice and fresh. I wouldn't have detected teak wood in it, though.
I too would love to know how the bamboo teak smells...Carrie, would you do a small sample of that? I got another bamboo one from another vendor and it just didn't remind me of bamboo or teak at all :P
