Thread: Trumpers SUCKS!

I know that "different" isn't supposed to be bad. And I'm trying to get used to it. Trumpers is way different than Taylors. With Trumpers I get wet and runny or dry and useless. It is really difficult to build a proper lather with it. Not impossible, but takes a completely different ratio of water/product and various brushes. Trumpers seems to prefer being created in bulk. Like enough product and water to create 11 shaves, whereas with Taylors no problem making lather for a single pass. This may take some time relearning to lather with this product. Or do others find this a challenging lather?

There is a difference. Trumper's was the only cream I used regularly. I tried E&C, but found Trumper's to be much better. Anyway, I now have two tubs of ToOBS and found they are very different from Trumper's. In fact, the consistency from Mr. Taylor to Eton is very different. Eton seems very creamy and Mr. Taylors seems much much thicker. However, when you get the water/cream ratio right on the Trumper's I think you'll be pleased. I do agree that less cream is required when using the Taylor creams.

I blame your water hardness/components (or the black spots, doh, there I go again). Trumpers is the best I have ever had, and have the opposite experience from yours on all accounts (need little water, builds up lasting lather, whips up in a jiffy with a pure badger wilkinson brush).

Yea, its just different. Can you bring up just enough lather for one shave? I'm using lots more water with it. I got a great lather from it tonight (not enough little black spots) but I made enough lather for everyone in the forum. You guys can stop by the house if you need some extra lather. I'm using it for gun grease now and I"m going to do a load of laundry with the rest.

Had me scared. I like the Trumper cake soaps.......whew!!! Lynn

I've heard pretty much the same complaint - Trumpers (and pretty much anything else) doesn't lather up well in hard water, if you have that.

If you have too much lather, though, just put less cream in your mixing bowl? Or are you using a hard soap?

I have hard water and find Trumpers Sandalwood and Rose to be fine. Yhe rose is unique and wonderful. The lime I bought and the violet were not good at all. Not sure why. I really LOVE the Taylor's avocado so I imagine the others are good too. My very favorite in terms of lather are the Vulvix creams.

In fact, if anybody wants a tub (not tube) of Lime, I'll trade it for something.

AF, when I whip up the lather (I do not put the soap under water to soak up water, I just use the warm moist brush) and the amount of lather produced by that is enough for about 2 passes on the full face. If you are looking to produce even less lather it might be difficult indeed. Then again, it will dry out and can be remoistened the next day (if the cake caught too much water). I'll test some more today.

I have used samples of Trumpers cream with great success.
