Okay so don't kill me......
But aside from the "nostalgia" and being "authentic" is there any reason to NOT use one of those "hot lather dispensers" that you throw a can of Barbasol in?
like this.....
Amazon.com: Conair HGL1 Combination Hot Gel/Lather Machine, Black: Health & Personal Care
Just wondering please don't burn me at the stake for heresy.

Years ago I had a "Lather King" machine. These are the kind used in shops by professional barbers. The lather is inferior to the high quality stuff you can create with brush and bowl. As for the canned goo ..... it is still canned goo whether it is heated or not. Nothing wrong with that if you like canned goo though. In my younger days I used many a can of Barbasol before I found a good shaving brush in '73. Never bought another can after that.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

It dispenses canned goo. Reason enough for me.
If you want hot lather buy a scuttle. Your face will thank you.

If you like it go for it. But, it would be similar to apply hot air to your face. Barbasol is good stuff, but is filled with a lot of aerosols.

Thanked: 60FF,
I initially had the same question and then realized the hot water, brush and shaving cream (in my case) gave me all the hot lather I needed.

I get all the hot lather I need. Its great, but in between passes the later remaining on the brush can cool down, so Im going to invest in a scuttle with a water trap. It prepares the brush while you shower too, providing thats the order you do things! Shower is always my pre shave routine.

Why spend money on that trying to make a silk purse from a sow's ear, do it right the first time, it's always cheaper in the long run.
