Palmolive Shave Cream
Just picked up a tube of Palmolive "Lather" shave cream. It was just over $2.00 at the local pharmacy, so I went ahead and bought it. Anyone have any suggestions for using it? Just squirt it on my face and lather up with a brush? Or, mix it up in a mug? Just wondering...
Thanks in advance!

I would suggest that you use a bowl, but if you want to, you could just wet your brush as normal, then put some cream on the brush and make the lather on your face, yes. Or, you could squirt some in your 'off' hand and make the later there.
Palmolive is cheap, but it's not too terrible. Doesn't really compare for scent or feel with any of the better creams, in my opinion.

Palmolive is a decent shave cream, although I have never tried it alone. I have added a dollap to my Williams Shaving Soap to build an incredible lather!

Used it last night like RT suggested - put a bit on my "Burma Shave" cake in a bowl and whipped it up into a nice lather. I liked it! Nothing real fancy, but highly effective. Can't beat the price, either. Thanks for the input...

I tried it last week by itself and it wasn't all that great. Had a hard time getting a good lather. I've tried some other creams in a tube including Trumpers and AOS and Palmolive doesn't measure up. It's very possible that I did something wrong, but an almond sized amount of Palmolive is not the same as an almond sized amount of Trumpers!

Thanked: 0I have a tube of the Palmolive. My sentiments pretty much echo the rest. It's a good cream if you're in a pinch and it's readily available at a good price. It works nicely when added to a soap, but by itself it tends to be a bit thin. I'm not sure exactly what the scent is, but it's not also not very pleasing to the senses.

I suppose, if you were to compare based on cost/benefit, it would be great, since it costs next to nothing. Compared to, say, the L'Occitane Cade cream I have, which is still, IMHO, an inferior product (though somewhat better smelling) and costs 10 times as much.
Really, though... My palmolive is sitting there on the counter, looking lonely, since it got used once and is soon to be banished under the sink until some unlikely day when I find myself without anything else but a can of Edge gel.

Do yourself a favor and get yourself a cake of good shaving soap or cream. They last a long time so the cost is really not that big a deal. You probably spend far more on some designer aftershave and the soap is more important towards getting a really great shave.

I have some - just picked up the Palmolive at the pharmacy while I was waiting for a prescription. I've only used it a couple of times, just for some variety...
