OMG...falling in love with DR Harris!
I got in a large order from SRD this week which included a DR Harris Arlington...figured it was time to see what all the fuss was about these more expensive soaps. So I stropped up the Dovo Special on the SRD Premium 1 strop, both also in my box of goodies and gave it a go.
All I have to say is WOW!!! I didn't think that a soap would create the kind of thickness and density that the canned stuff provides...the canned stuff, for me, was always thick, but didn't provide much protection. The DR Harris is thick, dense, and super slick.
The scent is great too. It doesn't smell necessarily like anything other than 'clean'. It has a distinct scent, but it smells like a good quality clean scented soap to me. It's nice to smell clean instead of trying to smell LIKE something for a change.
In a related note, the Special and the strop are both GREAT. I guess there's just something that makes you feel special opening up a box of goodies and using them all at the same time to give you a great feeling. Kinda like wearing all new clothes...
Now I understand the fuss...

Thanked: 39Yes, I was quite fortunate in following threads early when I started straight shaving getting Dr. Harris Arlington and Tabac. Both are fabulous. I have recently added the Dr. Harris Marlborough as well. The soaps are just plain fantastic. It's hard to argue with success, isn't it?

Thanked: 151Nice. I am going to have to try that. I have been using the AOS Sandlewood, but I am about to try the SRD Sandlewood soap because I have heard it was great, but now I will have to order the DR Harris as well.

When did teenage girls start posting to this forum?

As far as I know, there is no restriction imposed to teenage girls to post in this forum. In fact, we have a many female members some of which could very well be teenagers, in fact, I think that some are. I find comments aimed at limiting the freedom of members to express their opinions on this forum extremely irritating. As long as they follow within the rules of SRP, they are valid, valuable and appreciated. However, implicit in my previous statement is your right to express your opinion as well, I could only wish that you could find a more positive way to channel your views. Being discouraging is hardly a conduct that is appreciated in this forum. I honestly wish that you could see this at some point as it is never to late in life to leave negativity behind and do a bit of changing for the better. I think that you views and knowledge could be very valuable to this forum. By the way, D. R. Harris soaps are top notch.

I love my Arlington as well and have no problem stating so. The scent is perfect for a good morning and the lather needs no comment.

Thanked: 530Around the same time as the noun form of splash became your fetish and bane. Not to criticize, but, it wouldn't hurt to say somethign along the lines of "glad you found a soap that works for you", or "Also you could try [insert soap name here], it is just as good"... Making snide gender and age jokes just because of someone's typing isn't too endearing...

They started posting around the time you joined. See what I did there? I turned a derogatory phrase right back. I'm witty, and edgy too, right?
Like I said, I think there was a better alternative than mocking him.
At OP:
I have yet to try DR Harris... Thanks for spending more of my money >.<
Glad you found a keeper, there's more where that came from! I second the SRD Sandalwood, all their soaps are top notch, but the SW smells great!Last edited by ShavedZombie; 02-15-2010 at 04:07 AM.

To me the scent has a heavier lavender to it. There's also a hint of citrus.
