    Default new shaving cream

Does anyone like the art of shaving shaving cream ? How does it compare with other shave cream?

I've tried the AoS cream. Some people swear by it.

Basically, I've found that it smells nice, but the cream is not as thick or as emolient as the english creams from Taylor or T&H that I use more regularly. The AoS is thinner and pearlecent, almost like the Caswell-Massey creams (though somewhat better, admittedly).

I also think that AoS is outrageously priced. Much like the L'Occitane cream that I paid something like $22 for, it costs more than the equivalent English creams, and, well, just isn't as good.

That's just my opinion, though, and I'm sure others will have their own. Final verdict: It's not bad. It's convenient to be able to pick it up in the mall (if you have, for example, a Nordstrom's). But, it's not the best out there by far, and at the price, you could do better.

I think the AoS stuff is overpriced. The quality is OK, but I would spend my money on the 3T's before AoS. That's my two cents.

I agree with Chris. I just tried their unscented cream...great lather and shave, but no better than I'm getting now, so I can't see paying the difference.

Ed, on the L'Occitane...rumor is the cream leaves a lot to be desired, so I bought their soap (went for the refill) and it is great stuff!

I agree AoS items are definetly overpriced. I walked out of the store on Madison Avenue this afternoon when I saw what they wanted for their product.

A very interesting post there, RT.

As for the L'Occitane, I haven't tried their soaps, I admit. The cream had a strong smell but not a great lather. I think they're very, very pricey, too. Along the same lines as AOS. Given the great soaps that can be had cheaply, I don't think I'd buy any more of their products.

Same thing for AOS. Too expensive, and not, in my opinion, the concommitant increase in quality.

I use their stuff simply because I really like the scent of their lavender products. I am going to try the classic shaving lavender soap, and if I dont like that I will either try Taylors next or buy a refil of AOS...it depends on the lather and the scent I guess....
