Default Cut the GREEN wire, no wait...BLUE, cut the BLUE wire!!!

Okay, so I'm a long time lurker here, signed up about a year or so ago and made my rounds through some of the other shaving forums and finally decided to become more active here. Almost immediately I see many many posts about "The Bomb" hmmmm. Come to find out "The Bomb" is a shaving cream formulated by one of SRP's own. Already I'm a self-admitted shaving soap/shaving cream addict so I'm intrigued. I PM Mr. Alraz, get the scoop and the rest is history. I ordered a tub of Calypso Bomb (BayRum) and almost impatiently await its arrival. Two days later it's here and I'm going to put it through the ringer and quite possibly discredit all the hype right? WRONG!

Alraz includes some great instructions via PM days before it arrives, almost right off the bat I'm on guard because I shouldn't need instructions on how to properly lather a cream, something must be up. Wrong again!

Finally, I get a moment to myself, I haven't shaved in a few days fully expecting to put this bomb to the test on a few days growth and see how it really does. Start soaking my Penchetta brush and my Dirty Bird scuttle, I then carefully strop up my Dovo special tortoise on my new SRD modular paddle strop, first on plain felt, then on the premium I leather and I am ready.

I scooped up a dab of cream literally about the size of a pea on my pinkie (hey I'm a miser what can I say) and smear it on the bottom of my scuttle, shake out my brush and go to work. I quickly discover that so far the stories are true, this isn't going to be the easiest cream to lather. The small pea shaped dab quickly flattens out and starts swirling around the bottom of the scuttle. I get a decent, very thick lather going and decide it's time for a few drops of water. The tiny scab of cream almost instantaneously disappears and yes, an explosion of cream ensues.

I didn't really have to modify my current whipping/add water technique but I did have to use a little more elbow grease than normal, but the payoff was exponentially rewarded. I don't think my scuttle has ever seen that amount of lather in its year of duty, and most certainly not from such a small amount of cream to start with.

I did a great 3 pass shave and I easily had enough cream left over for a 4th pass. Great lubricity, great cushioning, great shave, period. I sauntered over to the wife for her seal of approval, she gave me the standard double palm to the cheeks sweep, grinned and motioned me in for the "scent test." She again grinned and told me I smelled like "Christmas." I then followed up with the sample of BayRum aftershave, mildly stingy at first but overall soothing with the same great BayRum scent.

Mr. Alraz, you've got a winner kind sir, I am thoroughly impressed.
