I'm primarily a cream user, but I like soaps too. Specifically I like a good shave stick as opposed to a soap in a bowl. That said, I have a few glycerin and triple milled soaps in my rotation I use every now and then as well. Out of all three I like the lather I get from a cream and find them a little easier to get a great lather out of. I think this is due in part to hard water. I'd say I use products in this order - Creams, Shave Sticks, Shave soaps.

    The band's name was Devo...

I have come to use both soap and cream to craft shaving lather of late.

I use both. I'm mostly a soap guy, but I find that Castle Forbes is about as good as anything on the market (so is the Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet that I tried). Fortunately, like Robin said, there are many great options available to us.

I love Creams! I love a good soap! I use soaps more than any cream. I find that creams are a little easier to lather up and give a little better cushion but they are way more expensive than a good triple milled soap.

MWF + Musgo Real +5 drops of Glycerine = "Lanolin Overload" and that is, Priceless

Go for the Gusto, Uber !!!!

Man cannot shave on Soap or Cream alone he needs Uber !!!!

A balance is necessary for me.

For creams, GFT Violet, C&E Sienna, Musgo Real,
Castle Forbes (in any scent), TOBS Avacodo

Soaps are Tabac, MWF, Art of Shaving Sandalwood, DR Harris, Cella,
    Cade, Old Formula English Fern

Uberlather... As much as I'm opposed to it on a fundamental level, I'm going to have to try it just to see what the fuss is about...

Glycerin Soaps, Triple Milled Soap, and Creams. I seem to get a great result from all of them. Perhaps I just know how to whip them all into a nice lather and get a nice shave.

I guess the ones with the mild scents and essential oils tend to be favored the most.
