lather machine
After using a campbell lather machine I thought I would give my opinion.
The lather isn't as thick as I usually get with my brush and Bigelow shave cream. But I sure do like the lather being so hot. It also is easy to re lather for additional passes, just press the button and you have another handful of lather. I used Campbell lather concentrate which has a pleasant smell. I have decided to use the lather machine during the winter and as the weather warms up I will switch back to my badger brush and Bigelow shave cream.

That's a neat looking machine. I like those witch hazel and glycerin dispensers. Cool idea!
I would really like to see a comparative picture between brush made lather and machine made lather. How long does the machine lather "last"?Last edited by claytor; 03-19-2010 at 05:27 PM.

I remember years ago when barbers universally used the Lather king machine the stuff was not something I would ever want to use for shaving. It had almost no scent and it was really really light and airy and didn't last long on your face. Barbers would apply it with their hands and rub it in.

+1, I had one that used it for awhile back in the 1980s. The lather is a lot thinner and airy is a perfect description. I didn't feel comfortable keeping the machine plugged in all the time so I had to remember to plug it in well in advance of the shave. I had been using a brush and puck since the early '70s and returned to that routine pretty quick. If you like the machine that is fine but it wasn't satisfactory for me.
