    Default Real Shaving Co.

Has anyone else seen shaving creams by the Real Shaving Co.? I just got two of the three that I saw in the drug store - "Moisturizing" and "Sensitive". On two shaves so far I've used the moisturizing blend immediately after toweling off. Meanwhile I prepare the soap lather, and add that on top. For the second pass, I only use lather.

The cream is nice and shiny right out of the bottle, and goes on well, creating a nice coat on the face. As directed on the package, I rub against the grain, and it really feels nice and thick on the beard. It may just be psychological, but it seems to me like it keeps my skin hydrated, and the hairs swelled while I lather the foam. I haven't tried it by itself, and probably won't unless there's an emergency. Not at all bad for $5 on sale!

Why on earth would you use it UNDER soap, may I ask? Why not just one or the other?

The Real Shaving Company's cream is made by Creighton's, and is identical in nearly every regard to The Body Shop Macca Root, and in fact, is very very similar to T&H cream (also made by Creighton's). In other words, it's a really, really good cream. Try lathering it with your brush, you might be surprised.

Check that, you WILL be surprised.

    Great stuff.

This is a great cream to use and cheap, though never tried it under a soap?

    Default Thanks for the input.

Those are pretty great suggestions. I'll try lathering the cream, and see what sort of results I get. I've been liking it so far, and the shave feels great.

To answer the question though: I apply it first, because after my shower I feel my face dries out too much before I can get my lather made. So as soon as I'm done towelling off, I apply the cream, and start making the lather. It seems to keep the moisture on the skin.

I hope that makes sense. Now to see if there's an acceptable alternative.
