Thanked: 30ANOTHER SOAP QUESTION ?????
Another quick question on favorite soaps. What do you consider to be the number one thing you look for when buying/using a shaving soap ?

Thanked: 1903Take a look at Shaving Soaps/Shaving Creams Reviews - Straight Razor Place Forums. There is a number of criteria that differentiate products. Ultimately, a lot is probably down to scent, which we do not rate, because it is too personal.
As for your choice of typography for your topics:

I like a soap that's rich, creamy, lubes well, cushions good stays on a long time, smells nice, isn't too hard to work up a lather and washes off clean with no residual scent left behind.

Is it so much to ask for a soap/cream that does it all? Hehe. I love CarrieM's stuff - great performance.

Thanked: 1903Indeed. CarrieM's products provide the best value for money of all the products I have tried to far. That does not make it the best cream in the market (Domenico Caraceni and Castle Forbes taking pride of place in this category), but simply a very, very good cream. And yes, I like that lemongrass scent...

IMHO the two things I look for in a soap are: 1) ease of latherability; and 2) degree of lubrication on the face to enhance the slip of the blade while shaving.

I like ease of bringing to a thick creamy lather. Maybe something to do with the water but I like soap with a dab of cream best. Slickness, cushion are more important to me than scent but I do like a pleasing aroma. Another + 1 for Carrie's. That bay rum, first frost and the blackberry vanilla are really nice.
