Thanked: 43Thank you, Obie!
A little while ago, I came across Obie's suggestions on a couple of soaps (in the what is your favourite soap thread)
As a result, I picked up a puck each of: Provence de Sante, Tabac, and Institute Karite.
Now, the Tabac has been widely suggested, but the other three were a complete mystery. However, I liked the way Obie described them, so I took the plunge.
The Provence was OK. Not another MWF for me, but OK. I like the scent of it the best of the three.
Tabac was also good. Didn't mind the scent, and had good properties, IMO. Cushion and glide were nearly equal to MWF, but I felt dry after the shave. All that said, I used it on a day when I was in a rush, and thus only used my DE--perhaps not a fair shake for it.
Institute Karite was WONDERFUL. Though the scent was probably my least favourite of the three (little too floral for my tastes), the cushion and glide were on par with MWF, and it came close to being as moisturizing as MWF. In fact, I may well prefer it in the warmer weather. Wonderful find!
Thanks again, Obie!

Thank you, Obie!
My dear Vulcan500rider:
You are very welcome. I am grateful for the kind remarks.
Yes, the Institute Karite is a fine soap, as are MWF and Provence Sante Verlaine (named after the French poet Verlaine).
Really, if I were to name my top five shaving soaps, which among others I currently rotate, they would be, in this order: Provence Sante Verlaine, Institute Karite, Mitchell's Wood Fat, Edwin Jagger Aloe Vera and Truefitt & Hill. There are many others I am quite fond of, including the SRD soaps.
You have made some good choices, my good man.
Regards,
Obie
